List of "always allowed" apps in screen time not accurate

Hello.

I monitor my child's computer/device usage through screen time. She has a MacBook and needs Google Chrome in order to log into school (google classroom since COVID-19). Initially I was able to see Google Chrome in the list of "always allowed" apps in screen time. I was able to select/deselect it as needed. It worked great.

I monitor screen time for my daughter through either my own MacBook or through my iPhone. About a month ago I was no longer able to see Google Chrome under the "always allowed" options list when using screen time on my iPhone. I was still able to select/deselect Chrome using screen time on my MacBook. Inconvenient when I was away from my computer and needed to adjust her usage permissions for Chrome, but we made do.

Now I can no longer see Chrome under the "alway allowed" options list on either my iPhone or Macbook. I am no longer able to select/deselect it since it doesn't even appear. It is clearly still installed on my child's MacBook as she uses it. when she needs more time on it, she sends me a request notification to continue using Google Chrome which I am able to authorize. So it recognizes that Google Chrome is there when my child requests more time on the app. Chrome also shows up as a used app on her usage history in screen time. I'm just not able to select/deselect it as an application within "always allowed."

Any ideas? Many Thanks

Hey there Troutthink11,

We're happy to help with this trouble you're having with "Always Allowed" not showing on your parent devices. Let's check a few settings, and test the issue after each:

  1. Confirm that your daughter's computer has been selected within the following locations:

• On your iPhone: Settings > Screen Time > Member Name > See All Activity > Devices (top right corner).

• On your MacBook: Apple menu () > System Preferences > Screen Time > (drop down menu in the lower left corner)

2.  Toggle the "Ask to Buy" setting for your daughter using the steps here: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy

3.  Change your daughter's device name to something different (ex. add a number).

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there.
