M1 MacBook Pro Booting Up While Lid Closed

My M1 MacBook Pro has twice booted up with the lid closed. With Intel Macbooks, you can disable auto-boot with sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03; that doesn't work with M1. Any idea on an alternative command for M1 or even how to reset the NVRAM or PRAM with the M1?

Sleep wake issues are managed by resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Change preferences, make some changes here

>System Preferences>Battery>>Battery/Power Adapter

ex. turn off power nap etc

I just had a conversation with Apple Support and there is no solution to this. Their official stance is that there is no way to disable this on an M1 Macbook. They suggest you leave feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookair.html

It's this kind of arrogance from Apple that ticks me off. The "Apple knows best" attitude where they feel us plebe users need not worry ourselves with disabling features they think are a better experience for us.

Let's tell them otherwise via that feedback form.

The article you cited on the Apple Support site states, "This article applies only to Mac computers with an Intel processor." I have an M1 (Apple Silicon) and so that option isn't available to me. I checked the power options; didn't see anything that would cause the MacBook to boot up while turned off - the Start up or wake option is unchecked. I did uncheck "Wake for network access"

I have the same issue. Just want to desactivate the AutoBoot on my Macbook Air. Spend 2 hours on the French assistance hotline, went up several assistance levels and got the answer: "we don't have the information for the M1 chip here in France3. Is there a chance by going to the trunc of the Apple tree that I wil get an answer.

The Intel chip command is "sudo nvram Autoboot=%00". What is this command now with the M1 chip. Please answer!!!

Somebody must know.

This is it! I began having this problem after I got an iPad Pro with a magic keyboard. I put the iPad and M1 MacBook Pro in my backpack next to each other and when I remove either device, the magnetic field from either the magic keyboard or iPad trips the Mac Book Pro and it starts with the lid closed. I'd like to know how to disable auto start as well.
