My M1 MacBook Pro has twice booted up with the lid closed. With Intel Macbooks, you can disable auto-boot with sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03; that doesn't work with M1. Any idea on an alternative command for M1 or even how to reset the NVRAM or PRAM with the M1?

Same problem! I observed that it only boots up when I insert it on my laptop sleeves that has magnetic flap on it. I kinda concluded that my laptop sleeves magnet is making my macbook thinks that it is open so it boots up automatically. My solution I don’t use sleeves with magnetic flaps on it.
Does putting the MacBook to sleep uses the battery or is damaging to the battery life?
I have the same issue with a M1 MacBook Air. It even started inside the box up when removing the pastic wrapper of the box for the first time. It also starts up when putting the MacBook Air in a sleeve after a normal shut down.
This is it! I began having this problem after I got an iPad Pro with a magic keyboard. I put the iPad and M1 MacBook Pro in my backpack next to each other and when I remove either device, the magnetic field from either the magic keyboard or iPad trips the Mac Book Pro and it starts with the lid closed. I'd like to know how to disable auto start as well.
