Podcast automatically Airplay to AppleTV

There seems to be a bug with Airplay on iOS and apps like the podcast app.

Preconditions:

TVOS 14.2 and iOS 14.2

Steps to reproduce:

1 - Start playing content on the AppleTV

2 - Wake iPhone. Notice what’s playing on the AppleTV shows on the Lock Screen and you can use the remote widget to control the AppleTV if you wanted to.

3 - Unlock iPhone

4 - Open Podcast app

5 - Play any podcast

FAILURE - The podcast automatically starts playing on the AppleTV, pausing what’s currently playing on the TV. There is no way to play the podcast to the iPhone speaker itself.

Attempted to set the General > Airplay & Handoff > Automatically Airplay To TVs to “Ask” or “Never” and that does not solve the issue.

Unclear if the bug is in iOS itself or the Podcast app. Within the Podcast app there appears to be no way to play locally on the iPhone, but also from the control center within iOS there appears no way to play from the iPhone either. I think the bug is rooted somewhere in iOS assuming Podcast app gets it list of target source speakers delegated from iOS.

I somehow got iOS control center to freeze in an endless loop if I try to deselect the AppleTV from the AirPlay menu causing a kernal panic.
