Iphone 12 pro screen dimming.

I've caught my phone auto dimming a few times now, going from say 15% brightness to 5-0%. It's frustrating to say the least when a switch is being ignored on a £1000 phone.

iPhone 12 Pro auto dimming with all setting turned off. My 12 auto dims to around 50% brightness even with all the settings for that turned off. I have accessibility - display and text size - auto-brightness turned off I have dark mode , night shift , True Tone turned off In display & brightness I have brightness turned all the way up and appearance on light mode. phone still auto dims. Is there another setting somewhere or is this phone broken ?
