Blurry font external monitor

After upgrading to Catalina 10.15.7 on my MacBook Pro 2017 and re-connecting to an external Samsung monitor everything on the external monitor is very blurry. Checking all Display settings and resolutions on both the mac and monitor does not work. I tried both default for display and scaled (including with holding down Option), but the native resolution is simply not there as one of options (1920x1080). When connecting MacBrook Pro 2013 that has not been upgraded (Catalina 10.15.5) using the same HDMI cable all works just fine and fonts and windows are crisp. How can I fix this?
