Force MacBook Pro to use power adapter as power source?

I am using my Mac as an alarm clock for the time being and to do that I need my Mac to never sleep overnight. So, my Mac needs to be plugged in constantly overnight. To practice good battery health techniques, is there a way to force my MacBook to not have the cord charge the battery, but to just use the wall adapter as a power source. I've heard its not good to have your battery constantly plugged in...
