Iphone 12 Pro Max Keeps Losing Wifi Signal

Hi, had my iPhone for just over a week and annoyingly everyday it keeps losing Wi-Fi signal at random points during the day. Only solution I have found so far is to switch Wi-Fi off in settings and switch it back on. Have reset router several times too. The problem is getting really annoying as I switched from Android after 15 years and have never had this issue with my previous Samsung 10 or Huawei P30 Pro and other android based phones. Anybody found a solution or is it a case of sending the phone back and going back to an android based phone?

I switched off wifi assist it’s in the setting/ cellular scroll all the way to the bottom

it appears to have stopped it from happening

apple put this feature in to switch to a cellar connection if a wifi signal is weak.

I was right in front of the router and it was switching so I just turned it off

Has been happening more and more, like every morning I have to turn WiFi on and off before the phone can do anything. What a hunk of junk! And if I brought it to the Apple Store or called support they would laugh me out of the building. This is clearly a hardware defect and is unacceptable! I will gladly be selling my iPhone 12 and picking up a Pixel 5 or 6 at least Google's products work.

I suspect that if you’d purchased it more recently it would not have this problem. My guess is that Apple have fixed the problem on newer phones but will never admit it. I purchased my 12 Pro Max (on the first day it was available) from a store called John Lewis, in the UK. They give a 2 year warranty. I wonder if I could return it based on a one year intermittent problem, or if a manufacturing problem, that the manufacturer won’t admit, would be cause for taking it back? Maybe, under UK regulations, I could claim it back on my credit card? Perhaps this forum could be proof of the issue? Or do I simply put up with it and get the next model - after it’s been in production for a few months. But, in the grand scheme of things, it’s only a phone. When I think about the things going on in Afghanistan and elsewhere, they make worrying about a slight inconvenience in the use of a phone seem rather insignificant. Yes, Apple are getting rich in the meantime but didn’t someone say something about turning the other cheek?

Hi RubbishBadger, I’m having the same issues with WiFi dropout on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and other people are now complaining about this when I FaceTime them as the quality is affected. Really fed up with the situation and also bought mine from John Lewis. I’m not sure how to proceed…do I try and get Apple to replace it and failing that go to John Lewis? Let me know what you think.

That’s interesting. It worked for me from the time you first posted it. Then the fault came back yesterday when I updated to the be ta software. So tried it again and it worked. 😀

maybe I’m just leeds lucky. Apple are afraid to acknowledge the problem as it would cost them millions if they ever did. Will look into the router fix if it stops working, but so far so good. 👍🏿

Have you found a solution? I have this same issue on both an iPhone 12 Pro, and an Apple TV 4K. The iphone has been doing it since I got it last year, and the Apple TV since I got it this spring. My iPad Pro (2017) and MacBook Pro (2015) don't seem to have this issue. I had an Apple TV HD before I upgraded to a 4K tv earlier this year, and that worked fine. I have CenturyLink gigabit fiber with an Actiontec C3000a modem/router. Also, my windows laptop that I use for work doesn't have this issue as well, so I know it's not the router (which I've tried rebooting multiple times over the past year).

Yep! My wifi drops all the time and is getting worse. People call me and they say my phone just goes to voicemail. My family has resorted to sending me texts that I receive on my iPad—which is hooked up to the same router and wifi as my phone! We have no cell service in our area and rely on wifi at home for phone calls. I just hope I don’t have an emergency or I will have to text 911 from my ipad. My husband has a Samsung and has no issues. He also has waaaay better coverage when we travel. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is a lemon and Apple and Verizon both are aware of these problems. I have tried to resolve these issues for over a year with no luck. My cheap $20 Trac phone was better than this $1200 phone. At least I could make and receive calls on it.
