M1 MacBook Air with external monitor crashes when sleeping

I've gotten several crashes this way. Almost every time I let my MacBook sleep while connected to the monitor. Here's an excerpt of the crash dump:

Just another follow-up:

I set my M1 power saving settings to default now (turning off the display after 15 minutes and allowing the computer to put the laptop to sleep when the display is off).

I actually tested this by setting it to 1 minute and walking away for 2 hours. Came back after dinner, computer was on the lock screen but had not crashed. (this was the expected behavior)

So, again, setting the DP port on the monitor for the Thunderbolt input to DP 1.2 seems to have resolved the issue for me as well. I still have the it set to DP 1.4 on the standard DP input port on the monitor, which is connected to my PC.

Apparently I was a little too enthusiastic.

My M1 Macbook Air already crashed 2 times during/after sleep since the update to 11.5.2 (with the Apple branded LG 5K monitor connected). No crashes during 11.5 or 11.5.1 though...

Apple, please finally solve this! This is so annoying!!!

My issue is not directly the same like yours, but your issue with some kind of crash was helping me.

Since some days I wondered why my Nextcloud Client App is not running. I am using the MacBook Air M1 either as Laptop or closed with an external monitor (BenQ 350r with USB-C). Nextcloud Client ist directly crashing when it start after 1 sec. I searched a bit, I installed a new minor update, etc. With your thread I just tried out what happened when I disconnect it from the external monitor and.... the Nextcloud client keeps running. When I plug the monitor back in and close the Macbook Nextcloud Client crashes again.

Unfortunetely without any error message or hint. So I don't have any logs.

And 2 more crashes this week...

So many months and updates later still no fix for such a serious problem (Macbooks crashing after sleep for no reason because they are connected to an Apple branded monitor...)

Who shares my opinion that this is totally unacceptable?

The more we talk about this, the more other victims will find this thread on google, click on the button "I have this question too", add a comment and the more likely it will be resolved.

Same issue with my LG 32UL950-W. It happens every time my MacBook Pro M1 sleeps while connected to my monitor via thunderbolt. "Your computer was restarted because of a problem."

FYI for those who stumble across this thread. I am also getting this crash when the computer sleeps while using an M1 Mac mini and an Apple XDR display.

OnScreen Control did not fix it for me. Did anyone install today's Big Sur 11.2 update? Did that fix it???

Does anyone have a macbook pro m1 and it crashes only when sleeping overnight? This is my issue- I'm plugged into a caldigit and dell display.
