My iPhone ringer volume is going up by itself

My volume keeps going up all the time. It started after I updated to iOS 14.2 for my work iPhone 6s. Now it goes up by itself all the time. I have restarted my phone many times and it keeps going up, even after I physically turn it down. It typically happens right after a phone call; the ringer will automatically adjust all the way up. There are times however that it will do it after I lock it. I have taken the case off it, I have cleaned around all the buttons, and I have kept the settings the same as before I updated it. What can I do??

Same. iOS 14.3 on iPhone 12. It doesn’t matter what volume my ringer was set to- in the morning my alarm goes off full blast. It makes for a terrible wake-up bc 1) it’s too loud, and 2) it gives me anxiety about waking up my wife, too.

FIX THIS.

iPhone 12 Pro here, with latest iOS 14. Been happening since I got the phone across all versions of iOS 14. Turning off adjust with buttons doesn’t solve the issue. It’s inconsistent where ringer volume (not media volume) goes to max. I am wondering if it has something to do with my Bluetooth headset. I’m going to pay closer attention to when I use the headset and if that affects ringer volume. Regardless, it would be helpful if Apple would address it.

one thing I’ve done to help is I setup a shortcut based on location, so when i get to work, automatically change ringer volume to 20%. When I get home, change it to 50%. Not a great fix, but it’s something. Shortcuts kinda bug me too because you can’t set it to automatically happen. You get an alert that you have to tap and then run. Seems like apple missed the boat on the shortcut automation features.

iPhone 11 and just updated to 14.4. Same as others- had the issue with previous software versions and still having this issue with 14.4. I also believe it’s happening after I hang up from a call. I don’t use a headset. Bluetooth has only connected in my car but I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s coming from hanging up from phone calls. Hope they fix this bug very soon!

I had the XS and noticed this started to happen after the newest update. I couldn’t figure out if it kept happening in correlation with something else for a while. Then I realized it seemed to happen after being connected to a Bluetooth device, such as a speaker or my car. I thought it was just a weird glitch with my phone but it was very annoying. I recently upgraded to the 12 Pro and it’s still happening. My guess is it is a software glitch with the new update. I hope they fix it soon because it’s FRUSTRATING!

I’ve found a workaround ... I set a reminder daily for 9:45pm to check my alarm volume and turn it back down if needed. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It is not an elegant solution, but so far it’s working. (2 out of 3 days I do need to fix the volume at bedtime!!) My phone connects by BlueTooth to my watch, car and occasionally headphones. I haven’t been able to figure out what is triggering the max volume shift. It is definitely annoying!! Apple, please fix!

I’d be interested to know how many Me Toos on here have Tiles. I think this may be the problem I’m having as it does seem related to Bluetooth as many have noticed, AND the Tile app has permission to turn your phone volume all the way up when you’re doing the Find My Phone feature. Seems like it could be related.

my issue resolves when I turn my BT off. So it’s definitely related to that. Not a long term fix tho...

So I noticed something different about this issue after the latest update done on my iPhone SE.

Now, if we turn off ringer volume “Change with buttons” inside Sounds and haptics, this problem doesn’t occur anymore which was not the case before the update. Now, I can connect to Bluetooth earphones or my EarPods, leave the phone on loud, and the ringer volume doesn’t go up anymore.

I have this problem as well and while I haven't found a solution, I think I might have found a cause.

I'm using Spotify on both my mac and my iphone and they are connected with spotify connect. On my mac, the spotify volume slider is at 100% and I use the system volume to adjust the sound volume.

Now, I realised that when using spotify on my mac, I can adjust the spotify mac app volume slider with the volume rocker on my iphone, and the iphone ringer volume is set to whatever volume the spotify mac app is at. Hence the ringer volume sets itself to whatever the volume of the spotify mac app is, whenever I use the spotify mac app and it communicates with the iphone spotify app through spotify connect.

I have also same issue, iPhone 11pro and ios14.4.

I have tried all options on Google except wiping my phone and re-install woth iTunes.

Also if I turn of «adjust with buttons» the only way I can turn volume down again is with the buttons....

This is so frustrating, it scared the **** out of me when I was running and volume suddenly goes to max.
