​I can’t create new Contacts on my Mac

I am using Big Sur but this problem was on previous issues of Mac OS as well

When adding a contact I have sufficient time to enter the first name and surname but then the screen refreshes and I have lost that contact details. It is now a rush to enter a first name and press 'Done', and then edit the contact. Surely this isn't the workaround that Apple wanted or desired.
