Problem in Instagram

Hello, I was able to fix the issue. First I back up everything with icloud, then I reset my phone selecting Erase all content and settings. And then when my phone restarted fresh with nothing on it as I did not use the option to restore from my back up. Instead I just logged in my apply id so that my pictures and videos from icloud will be download back on my iphone. And then I download all the apps I needed manually from App Store including instagram, and just like that I can tag anyone again on my post. It works for me. You can try if you want but I can't assure if it will also work for you guys. Hope this helps. Hope that all of you will have a fix on your tagging issue with instagram. Take care always guys.

Alright definitely a bug in the backup I assume. I restored my phone the first time without a backup and installed Instagram I could tag and it worked perfectly fine. Restored a backup and suddenly the "bug" was back.

Works:

• Erasing all data and NOT restoring a backup

Doesn't work:

• Erasing all data and RESTORING a backup.

I've had the exact same problem for months on my iphone 8 and no one else seemed to have it. I managed to fix the problem by reseting my device settings. No data is lost and it's not a complete reset of the phone, just the settings you have. I managed to get all my settings redone within 10 minutes of the reset. You can do it at:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Much easier than the factory reset I've seen others suggest. Hope this helps!

I have this exact issue as well. I have found a slight workaround. If you post two pictures, go to tag, then swipe to the second picture, you can tag. It is annoying though, because you have to post 2 pics for this to work. To make things even more frustrating, even if you implement this workaround, you can only tag one person at a time before having to close and re-open the tagging screen.

I just tried this because I was having the same problem with Instagram on my iPhone 12 Pro and can confirm Reset All Settings fixes the bug. Not an ideal solution but easy and took a couple minutes. No data or media is lost in the process.

Guys, I had the same problem and tried numerous things. Finally found the fix. Go to general, reset and reset all settings. No need to erase everything just settings will do.

what i did was to reset all settings and then it worked!

i had to reset all settings. It doesn’t delete the apps or passwords just some stuff with notifications and Apple Pay

Deleting the app didn't work out for me as well, so I now reset my whole phone and it does work (didn't restore the backup yet, just manually installed Instagram) I'm currently restoring my backup hopefully it works as well.

This worked perfectly for me! Thanks SO much for your post. I just backed phone up to icloud, deleted entire phone and started fresh. Didn't bring any of the old data over and now I can tag away. Legend!
