I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, I can't tag people on my Instagram image My wife has the same problem. But if you do it from another device, everything works

Hello, I was able to fix the issue. First I back up everything with icloud, then I reset my phone selecting Erase all content and settings. And then when my phone restarted fresh with nothing on it as I did not use the option to restore from my back up. Instead I just logged in my apply id so that my pictures and videos from icloud will be download back on my iphone. And then I download all the apps I needed manually from App Store including instagram, and just like that I can tag anyone again on my post. It works for me. You can try if you want but I can't assure if it will also work for you guys. Hope this helps. Hope that all of you will have a fix on your tagging issue with instagram. Take care always guys.
It's not an iPhone 12 specific bug. I got it on my iPhone 11 PRO MAX but not on my iPhone 7. Resetting your phone and NOT putting back a backup will solve the issue, so clearly a bug in existing backups or whatsoever.

i had to reset the settings, it doesn’t delete any info, just resets everything back to factory settings
I tried this and it worked. Few days later I uploaded a photo then went back to edit and tag someone and when I tapped on the photo nothing happened. I just tried to tag someone in a new photo I’m about to post and nothing happened either when I tapped on the photo to tag so the function has been disabled again after resetting my settings. This means I have to repeat the process of resetting the settings and that seems tedious.
Same problem. For me if im in the process of posting a photo and i go to tag someone it tell me to “tap to tag people” but nothing happens when i do so i cant even get to the point of typing in the username. However when i post “carousel posts” (multiple photos/the slide thing)it works on other photos just not the first one but if i still, if i want to tag everyone i can only add them onto one page. Ive tried posting it then editing it to tag them but theres the same issue either way.
Just want to confirm that I have the exact same issue. Works fine on older devices. Sometimes the screen popsup and can tag 1 account then it gets stuck.
When i try to edit old pictures where I tagged people it gets stuck and can't drag/remove the tags.
Yes i have had this problem since i got the new iphone in december. i am able to tag on my ipad so i post on my phone and tag on my ipad which is very frustrating as my ipad only works with wifi. ive tried everything but erase my whole phone i just do not think that should be our only option. so annoying!
I've been having the exact problem. I can't tag people on my instagram app. I have been having this issue since I updated my iOS to 14. I have iPhone XS. I tried a lot of things. Resetting my iPhone, deleting and re-installing the instagram app. When I login to my account to any other device, I am able to tag people. So, I think this is only touch related issue that instagram is not fixing. And, this is not happening on every iPhone or every device. This is happening in some devices only. This is really frustrating. Because Apple can't do anything because they are saying that its third party app related issue and when I filed a bug multiple times with Screenshots inside instagram app, they are not responding or doing anything.

I sort of gave up when she mentioned that to me lol. I was advised to delete the app and reinstall it but I haven’t tried it yet.
Has this problem been solved or does anyone have any tips on how to solve this issue? Having the same problem and it’s very frustrating.
Called Apple Support and they don’t seem to have any solutions. Told me to contact Instagram.
Iphone xr user here. Since I updated to IOS 14 this error occured. This is really frustrating :( Tried everything - log in logout; restart; reinstall ig but to no avail. I dont know what bug is this but this is annoying :( Updating IG doesnt work as well :(
I have this issue as well, iPhone 12 Pro Max. I click tag, get the message to tap the screen, but tapping the screen doesn't do anything. It's not just Instagram tagging, though. It happens on two more of my apps, in very specific circumstances. Duolingo, where the entire app works perfectly EXCEPT for stories, which are supposed to open when tapped, but 9 times out of 10 do not, and Headway, where I can't tap the books to open them like I should be able to. All other apps seem to work just fine. This is my 2nd iPhone 12 because the first was buggy. What the heck.
I tried this and it initially worked but then after 20 minutes everything went back to not working again. I have been back and forth with apple 10 times the last few days. My case is currently in the engineers teams hands. Think i may just get rid of my iphone 12 at this point and go to an 11. This is the 2nd iphone 12 and ive only had it for 1 month. I have apple care and they replaced it but still doesnt work.
