I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, I can't tag people on my Instagram image My wife has the same problem. But if you do it from another device, everything works

Hello, I was able to fix the issue. First I back up everything with icloud, then I reset my phone selecting Erase all content and settings. And then when my phone restarted fresh with nothing on it as I did not use the option to restore from my back up. Instead I just logged in my apply id so that my pictures and videos from icloud will be download back on my iphone. And then I download all the apps I needed manually from App Store including instagram, and just like that I can tag anyone again on my post. It works for me. You can try if you want but I can't assure if it will also work for you guys. Hope this helps. Hope that all of you will have a fix on your tagging issue with instagram. Take care always guys.
Keep us posted, James! I don’t believe it is an acceptable fix to wipe your phone and I refuse to do it. Apple and Instagram need to work together to resolve this and I am willing to join your crusade if need be.
I am also, having the same issue with tagging photos on Instagram. I am unable to tag photos on my iPhone 12 Max Pro however I am able to tag photos on my older devices (iPhone X and iPhone 7+). Has there been any resolution or fixes for this particular issue? I’ve tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling, however the issue persists.
I completely agree it’s not acceptable to require us to completely wipe our phones in order for one bug to be fixed on one app. I have an iPhone XS and it just started in Feb 2021 for me. I’ve never ever had this issue before. I’ve reported it to IG so many times. I don’t think they know how to fix it but I’m super frustrated with it. I’m thinking of trying to tag from my iPad and see if that works?
So glad to have found this thread. I’ve had the same issue, and Verizon support required me to reset as new device. It fixed the problem for a couple of weeks, but now the issue is back. Very frustrating for someone who has to manage social media accounts.
So I'm in IG about to make a post of 10 photos (yknow like 10 in 1 post) and I go to tag and I can't. Atleast on the first photo in the 10 I can't. Then I go to the next photo and I can tag! What the what?
So I thought we'll maybe something is up with that first photo so I experimented and tried posting just 1 photo but that won't work either - I can’t tag on it either!? So then I tried again with 2 random photos and again it won't let me tag on the first one but it will let me tag on the 2nd. I don't get it! Then I tried again with 3 and then 5 photos and it’s all wonky - it will let me tag on some but not all and then I go back to maybe one photo and it will let me tag but wouldn’t before. I know that’s confusing haha.
is there a bug? I’m afraid to delete the app and reinstall ;(

I have the exact same problem.
I bought my iPhone 11 last month and I made a new apple account and I can’t tag on IG.
so even if the phone it’s brand new and I start with a fresh Apple ID I couldn’t tag people on IG. It’s a shame for apple or IG I don’t know where is the problem. They should fix this because we pay a lot of money on this device’s and use a lot IG
iphone 12 user here... this is my first time with ios ecosystem and i also got the same issue that you guys are experiencing with tagging on instagram. I hope that there will be a fix soon.
Should have asked them how the hek to contact Instagram lol. There is no goo way to get in contact with them, it’s ridiculous.
