Dual Monitor Set-up MacBook 12inch 2017

Hello,

So I have a 12-inch MacBook that I wish to connect to a monitor for dual display. However, the version I have only has one usb-c port, so I am not sure how that would work with connection to the monitor as well as keeping my own MacBook charged. I wanted to know if it is possible with my MacBook and also get some steps to guide me in the right direction before making a purchase.

Just in case I was not clear enough in the beginning, I want to have the monitor be a continuation of my laptop display, I do not intend to use it as a clamshell mode.

MacBook, macOS 11.0

Presume by dual display you mean the internal display and one external monitor.

Easiest way is Apple’s USB-C multiport adapter:

USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple

You connect your power adapter and the HDMI cable from the display, and the multiport adapter connects to your one MacBook port.
