My older USB Canon printer now functions (not the CD tray at this stage).
Download free driver Gutenprint for Mac (latest version is for Mojave but installs Big Sur M1).
I found the dmg at SourceForge website.
Add printer and select Gutenprint driver at the last drop down box.

A free CD print app by canon My Image Garden should do it also.
Belight app cost me I think 20 USD.
Thank you... I tried this with my Canon MP270 but it didn't work... :( It was listed as one of the printers available though, what a shame....

I followed the steps and see 'Idle, Accepting Jobs, Not Shared', however, still cannot print. :(

Personally I would wait, seriously, until April 21 to buy a new printer and before purchase to make sure M1 chip is supported!

I upgraded Big Sur to 11.1 official and the printer now functions without Gutenprint!
You will find the Big Sur update in System Preferences....
