im trying to connect my iPhone to my tv with a hdmi lead but quite literally nothing happens. My phone doesn’t ask for permission and nothing shows on the tv. I know there can be issues showing different apps but I’m just trying to view my own screen for my videos/photos etc. Any ideas?

That cable is probably not going to work however I do not have much details on it. What I do know is what Apple recommends and the that image is shown below-

I checked the link on Amazon that you had provided above and this cable should work by its description. What I am not sure about is whether it is compatible with iOS 14 and it is not an Apple approved adapter cable. In its description, it stated that the cable has also be on a charger while connected to the iPhone. So, The USB end to the charger, The HDMI end to the TV and the Lightning end to the iPhone. It also states that it will NOT work with apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc.

Your iPhone does not have the micro USB port. Your iPhone only has one port and that is the lightning port. Do you have an image of this cable?

I use a micro usb to charge it and to connect it to my laptop!

Yes I’m using it connected to charger and only try to view videos and photos on the phone not any apps :(
