got charged Out of warranty, didn’t purchase the Apple care plus, basically charging me half the phone for a minor scratch on one of the lenses, camera works perfectly fine. Went to a local phone repair shop and it cost me $99 for the camera lens repair. Save your money. Apple needs to find another alternative to fix minor scratches. There’s no way the whole back of my phone needs to be replaced for a micro damage.

FYI - If you have the Asurion insurance through Verizon they will replace the device for $250 copay. I did that and eventually it was super easy and saved $400 at least.

It also happens in real life that people never have an auto accident but get into one five minutes after driving off the lot in their super expensive dream car.

It looks like that's a 12 Pro Max, so because you opted out of AppleCare+, this repair will be £ 566.44.

If you had AppleCare+, it would have been £ 79.

I didn’t get it fixed because they have to replace for the phone for $700. So I put a glass protector over the back cameras. Seems to be fine.

Very disappointed. Maybe I should of got a Samsung...

Make sure you have apple care, apple will charge you $599 to replace the phone if you do not have apple care.

If you can’t get Apple care then expect to pay a hefty price to replace it, they can’t just fix the lens they replace the phone.

I bought the same thing, but it didn’t help. The bottom glass enclosing the lens of my Iphone 12 pro max cracked. The phone did not fell. I bought the phone last January.

I brought it last Saturday in Apple Center in Greensboro. The guy at first mentioned that the phone will be replaced but then said they’ll send it to a repair center. They’re still not sure if they will replace the device or fix it. So they loaned me an Iphone 8. They said I might get the phone back (or a new phone) a week after.

Had mine for only 2 months. Was in perfect condition in the beginning of the day and it was in my pocket the whole time. Lens came out shattered. Was told this will be considered accidental and will cost $599.

Mine is cracked also. The glass covering these lenses is too thin and weak.

seems crazy to replace the whole phone. Surprisingly the photos are still ok. Maybe I will just remove the broken glass and replace with a lens cover. Lots for sale on eBay

I've been using iPhone for years and never had my iPhone's camera broke. I just bought my iPhone 12 pro max 2 months ago (cost me RM6699) and today i dropped my iPhone for the first time and the camera lens cracked. In Malaysia, we don't have the option to buy AppleCare plus. I called the service center and they said it's gonna cost me more than RM3000 to get a replacement which is about half the price of a new iPhone. Apple claimed that the iPhone with ceramic shield has 4 times better drop performance I think it's a false claim. Whoever bought an iPhone 12 pro MUST get a camera cover!
