One of the cameras on my iPhone and 12pro max is cracked on the back. I have apple care but I jus wanna know what the cost would be outside of that.
Exactly the same has happened to me... had my phone for less than 4 weeks and noticed yesterday my third camera lens has smashed. Contacted apple and they said it’s going to cost me hundreds- apparently it’s not a common issue but looking on here it clearly is! Never had a problem with iPhones so I didn’t think I’d need apple care as it’s going to be another £200 on top of my £1200 bill... Have an appointment booked on Thursday but after reading all these comments I’m not expecting the best news regarding how much they’ll charge me. Really disappointed, wish I stuck to my XS
I've been using iPhone for years and never had my iPhone's camera broke. I just bought my iPhone 12 pro max 2 months ago (cost me RM6699) and today i dropped my iPhone for the first time and the camera lens cracked. In Malaysia, we don't have the option to buy AppleCare plus. I called the service center and they said it's gonna cost me more than RM3000 to get a replacement which is about half the price of a new iPhone. Apple claimed that the iPhone with ceramic shield has 4 times better drop performance I think it's a false claim. Whoever bought an iPhone 12 pro MUST get a camera cover!
Mine is cracked also. The glass covering these lenses is too thin and weak.
seems crazy to replace the whole phone. Surprisingly the photos are still ok. Maybe I will just remove the broken glass and replace with a lens cover. Lots for sale on eBay
The same thing happened to me. Even with a case. I was quoted over $650 to fix it. On Reddit and other online forums this seems to be a huge issue and happening often on the 12. I have had iPhones since gen 1 and constantly dropped my phones. I have had ZERO issues with screens breaking ever. Disappointed in apple for this obvious design flaw.
Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, tanvir2022.
If we understand your post correctly, a camera lens on your iPhone is damaged. We’d like to help.
You can set up a repair here:
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
I just upgraded to an iphone 12 pro max on Monday March 1 and one of my camera lenses shattered today (Friday March 5, 2021)... total design defect.
Thankfully I have Apple Care but still it shouldn’t have shattered so soon or at all.
I got a 12 back in November. I didn't realize it at first, but my camera lense has been cracked since purchase. Not until I started using my camera more often did I realize I was probably dealings with a cracked lense. My next step is to have apple take a look.
got charged Out of warranty, didn’t purchase the Apple care plus, basically charging me half the phone for a minor scratch on one of the lenses, camera works perfectly fine. Went to a local phone repair shop and it cost me $99 for the camera lens repair. Save your money. Apple needs to find another alternative to fix minor scratches. There’s no way the whole back of my phone needs to be replaced for a micro damage.
I’m on my third camera lens protector since buying iPhone pro max 2.5 months ago. Im not hard on my phone. I had an iPhone 8 for 4 years with no damage- never needed a camera lens protector. Im wondering if the raised Lens design is making the cameras damage easily.
It also happens in real life that people never have an auto accident but get into one five minutes after driving off the lot in their super expensive dream car.
It looks like that's a 12 Pro Max, so because you opted out of AppleCare+, this repair will be £ 566.44.
If you had AppleCare+, it would have been £ 79.
had the iPhone 10 for 2.5 years with no cracks and that phone stopped holding a charge so I decided to upgrade to the 12 pro.. within the first week I managed to crack the main camera... reading on here a lot of people have too I seem to think it’s a defect. Who knows tho I could be wrong. Wonder how much it’s going to cost me to fix it🤦🏼♂️ Brand new phone
After a week of having my iPhone 12 Pro Max the camera lens cracked. Dropped it in SAND. And trust me there were no big rocks, I checked. And today I dropped it and the remaining two camera lenses got shattered, through a “Lifeproof” case. So all in all there’s something fishy going on and I paid 1200 dollars for it. NOT happy.
I’ve had EVERY single apple product in existence and this hasn’t happened after countless falls. Design flaw.
I didn’t purchase AppleCare+ because I knew Apple products are tough.
not this one...
I don’t think you get it.
