You dropped it, you broke it.
Sounds like a great reason to purchase AppleCare+.
FYI - If you have the Asurion insurance through Verizon they will replace the device for $250 copay. I did that and eventually it was super easy and saved $400 at least.
Me too. To a phone that's 7 months' old, always in a case, never been dropped. Apple refused to fix under warranty.

Not more easily, but if you use a case it’s a good reason to look for one that provides some lens protection as well.
Even with apple care they will make you replace the entire back glass and charge you.
I don’t think apple care will help as they will claim you have to replace the entire back glass.
Resale/trade-in values return to normal if you have your device repaired by an Apple authorized service agent.
