Big Sur MacBook Air 2017

Big Sur was automatically downloaded to my computer but was unable to to be installed due to lack of sufficient space on my 2017 MacBook air. I decided not to install and attempted to delete the big sur files by dragging them to the trash and emptying it. I thought that would have taken care of it, but i continue to get notifications the big sur is available for updating. I am not sure if that means it is still on my computer somewhere or just available for download. I have not shut off all of my automatic updates and downloads. is there a way to dismiss updates like this that i do not want?

It means it is available. There's no way to dismiss the update notice other than installing Big Sur.
