Apple iPhone X water damage breach Australian consumer law? Hi, today my iPhone X got wet in my pocket/bag from rain and has broken. This is the second iPhone X I have owned that has succumb to water damage despite being within the IP68 parameters. I believe both of these phones were faulty and have failed their IP68 certificates. IP68 states that the iPhone X is water resistant to half a metre (submerged) of water for up to 30 minutes. I cant keep paying $800 to get these phones fixed, I believe there is a breach of section 18 of the Australian consumer law that states a "A person must not, in trade or commerce, engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive or is likely to mislead or deceive".

Hello Apple Service, I would like to report water damage, I was in Malta with my iPhone 12 mini (which is supposed to be waterproof) and went diving with the phone for a short time, it can't be that the internet says that the phone is allowed to be up to 5 metres deep and 30 minutes in water, but it still has water damage. The phone can no longer be switched on, please write me back as soon as possible to see if I have a guarantee or if I will be replaced with a new one, as it is 100% a production fault.

No, the iPhone is definitely not waterproof. Apple’s marketing states it is water resistant, but warns against submerging it.

I don't know where you got the impression iPhone is waterproof, but the impression is completely mistaken. iPhone is water resistant, not water proof. If you submerged your phone to take photos, you have destroyed your phone. It cannot be repaired and will require being replaced.
