ipod classic won't sync

My ipod Classic won't sync. I've reset it; uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes; I've tried different cable, but nothing. It is charging; and when I connect it to my PC the file manager opens to show F:ipod so I know the cable works. The iPod scrren shows "Connected Eject before disconnecting" but it doesn't appear in iTunes and won't sync :-(

I ended up speaking to Apple Helpdesk (they allowed me 15 minutes!). It would appear that the latest version of iTunes no longer recognises/supports iPod Classics so I can't sync my iPod.


Apple suggested I download an old version of iTunes - which doesn't seem like an ideal solution but what else can I do?!
