major highlighting bug in iBooks

When I try to highlight anything near the top of a page in an Apple iBook on my 2015 iPad Pro, half the time the highlighting feature doesn’t work. I’ll drag my finger to highlight, and as soon as I pull my finger away from the screen, the highlight vanishes instantly. It does this nearly 50% of the time. It’s extremely frustrating, and sometimes the highlight only works on half a sentence and refuses to highlight the second half of the sentence. After 10 years, I can’t believe this hasn’t been fixed. Apple Books has been out since 2010 and its faulty highlighting issue remains. Sometimes there’s a delay, other times it doesn’t work at all.


Is there another program that would allow me to read and highlight Apple books? Unfortunately, Amazon Kindle can’t import them and the book I’m reading on Apple Books isn’t available anyway on Kindle.

Thanks for your input Scruffles. I'm also having the same issue in Apple Books on my iPhone XS Max. But what I've noticed is that even though the highlight vanishes instantly, if you rotate the iPhone horizontally and then vertically, the highlight actually appears. This is so strange. So even though it looks as though the highlight didn't work, it actually did. But you only see it after rotating the phone horizontally and then vertically. I don't know what to make of that. Except that is it's crazy for Apple not to have fixed it after 10 years. I also noticed the same issue in Apple Books on their latest iPads. I have to try this out in the Apple Store and show someone in charge there. We can’t be the only ones experiencing this.
