I am having a hard time to pair my Apple TV 4 k with Sony Bluetooth headphones.

How to pair Apply tv to Sony headphones.

when I click devices and accessories Apple TV does not find the headphones to pair with

iPhone SE, iOS 14

did you put the sony headphones into pairing / discovery mode? that is required first time one connects bluetooth headset to a new device, how one goes about doing so differ somewhat from headset to headset

It is already paired with my iPhone and Sony Bravia tv. If I reset it to initial factory setting ( discovery mode ) all the previous pairings would be deleted and would have to be performed again.

But I feel that is unavoidable if I want to add Sony headphones to the list of my Apple TV paired devices. Am I correct?

It would be much more convenient if discovery to happen automatically on both ends : Apple and Sony

if sony cause a factory reset when one put their headset into pairing mode then they are the first manufacturer i ever heard of which would forget other pairings
