Never set a password for my 96 year old grandma's iPhone 6s Plus. yet after ios 14.2 Update Phone asking for one.

I purposely set up her phone to not use touch ID and not have a password/code because it would be a hassle for her. After the update the phone is asking for a six digit passcode. Is there an automatically generated passcode when a phone has no password set after an update? If there is what is it so that grandma can use her phone again? Will this happen with every update?

Thanks!

Is the iPhone asking to setup a passcode or is it asking you to input a passcode that has already been set up? If it is the latter then you will need to reset the passcode on the iPhone because, at this stage, the iPhone requires it.

You can reset your passcode by following the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ How to reset your passcode on a disabled iPhone. You will need a computer for this task and all your data on your iPhone will be wiped clean in the process.
