M1 MacBook Pro screen diming with "Automatically adjust brightness" turned off

I love this new MacBook with Apple silicon but I don't love that it keeps adjusting my screen brightness down to almost half way whenever it chooses. I notice it when I come back and wake it up after a time.

Brightness adjustments. Hello guys, Not so long ago I bought the new MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. Whenever I open my Mac or wake it from sleep, the brightness is automatically on 50%. The automatic brightness option is off. Is there any way to keep the brightness at the last level of brightness it was when I last used it? Thanks a lot!

Auto-brightness stops working after waking from sleep The auto-brightness feature on my MacBook Air m1 works as intended on normal usage but when I leave it overnight and open it up the next morning, the screen brightness doesn't adjust to the ambient light and stays where it was the other night. The only solution I found is to reboot the system completely. This is not something new that I noticed, it's been like this since I bought it 3 months ago. Sometimes the screen is so dim that I can't see anything on the screen, especially when I'm outdoors. Is there a way to fix this without me having to reboot everytime I woke it from sleep?

Surely the Mac dimming the screen when the room gets darker is the desired behaviour? Everything else in your post seemed to warrant a replacement but that part seemed like a typo

Same here, it keeps dimming down to become just barely visible. It's annoying.

The good thing with those Intel Macs is that, from what i read at least, it can be resolved with a SMC reset.

Which doesn't exist anymore with M1 hardware.

I have the same problem with my M1 Mac under natural light. Is it a software or an hardware issue (I hope not)?

Hey ! I had the same issue and I solved it by changing a setting in the battery settings. I can't tell u the exact name of it because my computer is in french but it's says something like that the screen is dimming a little when u use the macbook with battery.
