iPhone Locked in Silent Mode

I cannot turn off the Do Not Disturb feature Silence when phone is Locked. Do Not Disturb is turned off and my silent button is also set to the Off position. I tried rebooting the phone, that did not fix anything. I also searched for a software update and my SE1 is up to date. This did not always happen but started a few months ago. Did Apple build this into my last software update so i would be forced to buy a new phone?

Thanks for your reply, but that is not the problem. My speakers work fine and my phone rings when it is active, but not when it is plugged in and charging or inactive. Under Silence in settings, there is a check mark to silence “While iPhone is Locked” that I cannot uncheck. This is the problem. How can I turn that off? Nothing happens when I tap the check mark.
