Homepod disconnects randomly from Wifi

Hi There!

I recently bought the new homepod mini and was preety excited about it on its arrival. After the setup it worked perfectly fine and played music the whole time.

Around 1hr later, I told Siri to set an alarm for me to which she responded „Just a sec“ and told ne that the homepod mini is not connected to the internet and I should fix it on the home app.

I couldnt find the fix to it on the homepod app so I looked for a fix on the Internet. On apple‘s website I saw a post that told me to restart the homepod. After restarting it started working normally again. But again after an hour it got disconnected from the Wifi.

I tried the next step suggested on apple‘s website. I reset the homepod and started the setup all over again. It started working normally after the reset but again after an hour or so, it disconnected from the Wifi.

I also have other devices connected to the same wifi and none of them show any sign of „no internet“.

The home app is installed on an Iphone 12pro.

I hope theres a fix to this.

Thanks

HomePod mini, 14

it’s unlikely a router issue for most and going into router settings is a wild goose chase. the homepod minis have connection issues. we pay a premium for apple quality from a $trillion company and they put out a product that can’t keep a network connection. my inexpensive echo dots work day after day. never an issue.

I just got one for Christmas and I have the same issue. Everyday it disconnect. I reset it or just unplug and plug back in, and then it works again, temporarily. Siri ends up saying that it’s not connected to the internet and to check the home app. What a waste of money. This better be a software issue that gets fixed soon. If this doesn’t get fixed in the next week or so, I’m returning this piece of garbage.

Exact same issue. I replaced my upstairs HomePod I’ve had for two years (never a Wi-Fi issue) with two minis to cover two rooms, because I bought a second big HomePod to pair for a sound system for my QLED TV (works fab by the way!). Since I was so happy with my first HomePod, I decided to expand speakers in more rooms - I like the new intercom feature...

i’ve had no issues with the big homepods losing Wi-Fi connectivity, but the minis, after the first week, are now useless as interactive speakers, intercom, Siri assist, etc due to this constant Wi-Fi glitch.

I do not need “interactive” speakers I have to reset every hour to reconnect Siri to the internet to keep them interactive. Apple needs to figure this out stat, or both the minis I bought will have to go back for a refund. And I expect many other Apple-philes are feeling the same, so that’s a huge chunk of revenue Apple will lose.

Fix it, Apple! Or recall the speakers...

The original Homepod also seems to suffer from wifi problems related to "smart" routers/modem. Solutions included temporarily disabling the 5GHz band (to trouble shoot) and assigning a static (fixed) IP address. These are router settings and every router seems to have a different method of changing settings.

As a start try typing 192.168.0.1 into your browser address field. This should load your router set-up page. The default user name is usually admin. If you are lucky there will be a help page for further steps such as enabling/disabling "smart connect".
