Screen Badly Distorted When Opened?

Just recently noticed that the screen on my 13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 port Macbook Pro (No Touchbar) is very distorted when I open it past roughly 70 to 80 degrees. All the colors are the opposite and everything's dim and twitching. Anyone else seen this before? Is there an easy fix or does it need a new screen? Thanks

Hi there TomR91,

We can understand the concern you're having with the distorted display on your MacBook Pro. We're happy to help you with this. Let's start by resetting the nonvolatile random-access memory (NVRAM), as this helps with display resolution trouble. Follow the steps here to do so:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

Best regards!

Hello again TomR91,

Thanks for trying that for us. Let's see if we can isolate this trouble you're having. Next step will be to boot the computer in safe mode. Click here for the instructions:

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Should safe mode resolves this, you may be having a software issue. You can try reinstalling the macOS to fix it:

If this issue persists in safe mode, try resetting the system management controller (SMC). This is good for resolving lower level performance issues. Get the steps for that here:

If this reset is unsuccessful, get in touch with Apple Support for further assistance: Get Support

Take care and be safe.
