Language switching stops working using globe button button on MBP M1

Mine facing the same problem, but I found a solution. when the global key doesn't not respond, I will use control + space once to change the language, then the global key back to function. Maybe you can try this for now until apple fix the bug, hope this can help you.

Simply, change the language using the default shortcut for one time then the key will back to work as it should be.

In my case, I use Command + Space to change language, Whenever the fn key stop I use the traditional shortcut then the key works again.

I had the same issue, looks like you found a fix here.

Once the 🌐 fn button stopps working, I press ^Space and then the 🌐 fn button works again.

Wow, after adding default Japanese keyboard but not google one, the check box is activated on Google one too. Thank you so much! Now I can work on my stuff!

You could run this command instead:

launchctl kickstart -k gui/501/com.apple.TextInputSwitcher

1. Go to "System Preferences"
2. Go to "Keyboard"
3. Tap "Input Sources"
4. Tap " Select the previous input sources"

FINISH!

Just Heads Up, Same issue here on MBP2020, switching with option+spacebar brings it back to life.

Hey, you do not need to restart, by default input sources can also be switched with (⌃+ Space) or (⌃+ ⌥ +Space) shortcuts.

If input sources switching stopped working with the "globe" key - use on of this shortcuts, and then try the "globe" key again.

Weird, agree. Hope apple will fix this annoying bug.

It is a bit unfortunate that they key sometimes fails to work (and surprising since 11.2 was supposed to fix it), but fortunately there are easy alternatives. My mac doesn't even have the "world" key and Control-Shift-Space is not very hard to use...

Hi! I had the same problem on my 13.3 inch M1 MacBook Pro and to fix that I simply added the language changing shortcut to the Touch Bar from the keyboard settings and its working perfectly. I'm not sure though what happens with the MacBook Air which does not have the Touch Bar.

First, go to your system preferences-Keyboard and then make sure that on "press 🌐 on" the "change input sources" is selected.

Then press control+space together several times and it should start working. Hope it helps.

Same for me for macbook pro m1, 2020.

Started working again after I switched language by : control+command+space and then FN key works as usual.
