Just upgraded to 11.3 and did some smoking test with the original TB cable which caused system deadlock in 11.2. The sleep issue seems gone, the system can even awake with TB SSD disk mounted on desktop. This version looks like much better than 11.2.

M1 Mac Mini. Wireless keyboard. I usually put the machine to sleep by pushing "EJECT" while holding OPTION-COMMAND. Most of the time the system wakes up, but occasionally does not respond. When I first hit RETURN to wake the system, the keyboard does issue the bluetooth signal, as evidenced by the green light, but the screen remains dark.

I've had the mini for over a month. The problem has surfaced only three times, but, if I'm not mistaken, only since the software upgrade to 11.1

I am not taking the warranty approach yet, I'm pretty confident it will be addressed in a future update. It seems like it's a software issue and not a hardware issue. Yes it's inconvenient not to have the wake function working properly, but as of now it's easy enough to get the screen back on. I think enough people are reporting it that it has caught Apple's attention.
