MacBook Air
I have a similar problem with my MacBook Air 2020. If I use screen saver or put it in sleep mode it won't wake up. Sometimes when I put my finger on the finger ID button the login screen will briefly flash up but then back to a black screen. Only way to wake it is to force a shut down and restart.
Try hitting the escape key twice, that has been working for me. Definitely seems like a software issue
That seems to work, I wonder why it happens on some m1 macs and not all of them tho
Yeah that’s the same for me. Have you taken it to the apple Instore warranty yet? Wondering if I should but worried they’ll just try something and give it back unfixed
Pressing the ESC key twice is working for me. let's hope it will get fixed with coming updates.
Having to force restart
big sur version 11.2 (20D64)
Hey have you figured out a permanent fix yet? Still broken for me, wonder if 11.3 will fix it
Hey has anyone tried 11.2.2 yet? Is it fixed?
I am not facing this issue after 11.2.2 update.
I have the wakeup issue too on the latest update big sur 11.2.2.
As long as any usb storage device is plugged in, once the screen gets dark, most of time it won't wake up but instead autoreboot.
Same here..I have an M1 air and works great but just started having this issue have to restart most times.
Im having the same problem. It's a software issues? I'll try tapping "esc" twice. Thanks
I think it might be hardware issue. After I changed the TB3 cable, the system can always wake up now. However the macOS hung once during upgrading to 11.2.3.
Hanxi it sounds like you have a different problem. We are talking about issues with the built in internal screen, not external monitors.
Interesting, thanks for replying. For me the system doesn't actually hang, the screen just stays dark but I can see that the screen is working. As like others, pressing escape twice fixes it
For me nothing plugged I open the lid nothing happens I need to close and open again.
that happened the second time I used my brand new Mac.
quite disappointing
