If you have a generic third-party case, these sometimes have the magnet (sensed by the iPad when the cover is closed) in the wrong location relative to the screen; some cases don’t have a magnet at all.


As the sensor location varies between models of iPad, to use the screen locking feature, the case must be specifically designed for the iPad.
