Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

I apologize for not making things more clear.

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.

yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.

i am sore today because of it.

mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.

I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.

As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.

Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I understand how you feel. I feel the same way.

However I am just reporting what I was told. I am not reading between the lines in this memo. They are NOT going to do a work around for us. Buy the Apple TV HD or 4K. That’s the only way it’s going to work.

Apple is in the business of making money.

Making us buy a new Apple TV to stream this to our tv is the best way to make more money.

Have you read that ORIGINALLY they were going to make the Fitness+ app available for MOST Smart tvs, but have not done that because there is no REAL money in it.

I also have 2 Apple TV gen3. I did not want to to buy another.

As I said in a prior post. Samsclub allows the return of products up to 90 days.

Indeed screen mirroring will not work… Had the same problem… You do need an Apple TV not to be confused with Apple TV+! .. I had to get out of screen mirroring… Re Open one of the workouts… In the bottom right you’ll see a little symbol as seen in attached photo ...Touch that symbol and then select your Apple TV your Apple TV

After an hour or so on the phone with support I was told that it won’t work. Screen mirroring of Fitness+ will only work with the latest HD or 4K Apple TV. I have the older Apple TV and there’s no indication of support for that either.

I worked around it by plugging the iPad into the tv via the Digital AV (USB-C to HDMI) adapter. I assume the same would work with the iPhone using a lightening to HDMI adapter.

It’s not an elegant solution, but you can at least control the fitness+ session with the watch so can leave the iPad / iPhone by the tv whilst you workout.

I called Apple Support today and they confirmed it’s a deliberate decision and the only way is through an Apple TV.

I, like many others, decided to stop using my Apple TV as I now have a smart tv (samsung) which includes the Apple TV app. I’m a longtime apple-fan and was so excited about using fitness + and I’m pretty furious that apple have interfered with such a basic requirement.

We can AirPlay other movie, tv and music content we’ve purchased but not a fitness membership that we’ve also purchased? It’s disgusting and has really negatively impacted my perception of apple and my willingness to support them. Also furious as we’ve upgraded to the Apple One membership specifically for this.

A really, really bad move by apple. The person on the phone said she would pass the feedback onto the engineers. Despite having an old Apple TV hanging around somewhere, I simply do not want the added inconvenience of having to connect this up for the sole reason of apple fitness.

I hope the engineers listen to these complaints and fix the problem

PS. I apologize - it does work with Apple 4K - just not the way I expected. I thought it would work thru screen mirroring on the 4K but you can actually pair the watch with the Apple 4K and that is how it works!

So to recap, two ways I have gotten Fitness to work on a TV

1. New IPAD AIR - USB-C to HDMI adapter to HDMI on TV
2. Apple Watch paired with Apple TV4K (paired thru the remote app on the Apple Watch —which is the app on Watch with sideways triangle.)

Hope they will eventually update to allow via screen mirror.

Not to disappoint all the optimistic Apple fitness beginners (because for several weeks I was one of you) but here’s the deal: you cannot mirror or “cast” to a larger device unless you have the newer model of Apple TV. Or, a larger sized iPad. If not, you’re stuck watching fitness classes from your tiny phone screen. Doesn’t matter if you have a new smart TV. Nope. I’ve done everything imaginable and talked directly with a few Apple Support folks. They are aware screen mirroring is not at option “for now.” My 30 day trial is almost up and while I enjoyed the classes and the synching to my watch quite a bit; however, until they can realize their massive error by not allowing screen mirroring to a larger device (as I refuse to buy a new Apple TV model just for this) I’ll be back to the Peloton app.

There is no fix. The only fix is to buy a recent model (not the older ones) of AppleTV. Apple support of all levels just say the same thing as that so there is no point in calling them about this topic. There are similar services available that fully utilize the Airplay and screen mirroring capabilities without any problem.

You can't mirror Fitness+. If you have an AppleTV box, you can connect it to your television and use it to access Fitness+ on your television screen.

No resolution. I just spoke to support. Screen sharing/mirroring was intentionally not part of the fitness+ program. Without AppleTV, you have to stream it on your phone/iPad screen. Very disappointing.

I have exactly the same issue after just getting a new Apple watch. Have just spent over an hour on the phone to Apple. They confirmed other previous replies here - Fitness+ deliberately does not allow you to screen mirror and is only compatible with Apple TV 4K and HD (ie not older models). The individual from the Apple TV department told me that they were working on a fix for this and then their supervisor told me that actually there are no plans to make any changes. She said that they make changes if enough people complain (it seems the 6oo+ people who have already responded to this question to say that they have also had this issue in the last 3 weeks is not enough for them to care). Their suggestion to me was also that I buy a new Apple TV. Not a great customer service response from Apple - have gone from mildly irritated to plain angry.

I just called Apple and they said you can only view Fitness+ on TV if you have the AppleTV device (after about 30 minutes of troubleshooting steps before she talked to someone else). Very frustrating, will be cancelling after my trial and using a different program that allows screenshare/airplay. Hopefully Apple confirm they are going to fix this in an update soon.

From what I have been told and from what I have been able to do, there is NO workaround period.

you MUST HAVE either the Apple HD or the Apple 4K tv streamer to screen mirror to your tv.

be sure to update the firmware when you buy the new Apple tv or you will NOT see the fitness app.

For $1498 Ive joined my athletic club for 24 months and canceled Apple fitness+$.

Had the same issue (UK). I contacted support - “Thet thing is that currently, Fitness+ on the TV screen requires an Apple TV set-top box with the Fitness app (not the Apple TV app).”

this was the main point of about a 40 min chat. I sent a feedback as the representative suggested. This is the first time I am actually considering just returning all my apple products. Blocking using a bigger screen via a cable/airplay is not a good image for them.
