Why is screen mirroring from iphone to lg tv not working. Preview of fitness session works, countdown of session works. Screen goes black with audio only once session begins. How do I fix this?

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.
yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.
i am sore today because of it.
mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.
PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.
I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.
As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.
Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I don't think that the product is fit for purpose if you can't screen mirror straight away - it is the old microsoft approach of get it out and fix it later which is not what Apple should be. It's like buying a car and finding that you have to pedal it out the garage because there's no engine. Oh! But that will come later.
I purchased a new Apple Watch for the sole purpose of utilizing the screen mirroring functionality so I can watch my work outs on the big screen tv via Apple Fitness Plus. Like everyone else here has said, the screen goes dark and there is audio only after the countdown. I am 54 years old and cannot see the smaller screens to work out. This is pure greed on the part of Apple. The screen mirror capability should not have limits placed on it only when it forces consumers to buy another Apple product in order to use all of the functions. Furthermore, sometimes I may want to work out in the basement and other times upstairs. Does this mean they expect me to buy 2-3 Apple TV’s? RIDICULOUS! I am very disappointed and considering switching from Apple altogether when I am done with my current phone and watch contract. I will not be renewing Apple Fitness and will be leaving a poor review in the App Store (the app is fabulous. The instructors are amazing-but it is of NO benefit to me if I cannot use screen sharing with my tv.)
You failed to do your research on what the Fitness + program requirements are. And yes, Apple designed the Fitness + program for the full on Apple world but cheer up if you take a little time to do some research you will find some good news.
However I predict the next set of posts that we will see in the future are "Why can't I see the biometrics from my Apple Watch when I do Mirroring?" You heard it here first.
I love my Apple products, they generally fit every aspect of my life. This such a disappointment. It reminds me of when iPod was the only mp3 player that would play music purchased in iTunes. This is one of the reasons some people are anti-Apple. Today I was doing Yoga from my phone and I couldn't see the person who was doing the modified movement that I needed. Bad move, Apple.

I've tried everything and I refuse to spend $175 for apple TV just to do their workouts. I have apple products coming out my ears. That can't do something as simple giving you access to watch on a TV. Guess I'll be heading over to Peloton.
Does anyone know if this works with Apple TV 3rd generation or not? I see the update info say it’s updated for airplay2. I don’t know if the 3rd generation does or doesn’t have it.
I tried trying a beginner workout to test it but even those you have to subscribe for so I can’t check without subscribing - which I’m not going to do unless i can confirm I can actually use it!
Once again, it’s Apple not playing nice with anybody but themselves. I subscribed to their fitness program as well and now I can’t use it on my TV. Not easy to see on a tiny little phone either. Come on Apple, you can do better than that! Stop letting greed rule you
Shame on you Apple. If it’s not enough that I just coughed up $600 for a watch, now you want me to cough up another $200 for apple tv!! Greedy much. I have ifitness free for 3 months but I can’t even enjoy it completely because I can barely see the screen on my phone. I definitely won’t continue the membership after my free trial if I cannot mirror it on my smart tv. Now I understand why my friends have boycotted Apple products lol. I will gladly spend the $12-14 a month for another fitness app that isn’t so restricted. Way to go!
Just leaving this here to agree with all the comments--it is super frustrating to own an iPhone and Apple Watch and not be able to screen share on Airplay (which my TV is compatible with) because it's not an Apple TV. It really shouldn't be this hard. I will not be renewing my Apple Fitness+ subscription next month.

I am missing something with the USB-C and the HDMI connections. In the YouTube, he plugs something into his iPad....a usb-c would not fit...
