Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

Why is screen mirroring from iphone to lg tv not working. Preview of fitness session works, countdown of session works. Screen goes black with audio only once session begins. How do I fix this?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

Same issue - I was excited to check it out this morning. I bought a new watch last week and got 6 months of the Fitness + service. It counts down on the TV screen, then reverts back to the phone for the class. It also doesn’t acknowledge my AirPods.

I was in the phone w Apple the other day as well (again) this time for about 90 min. If the lightning cable didn’t work; I figured I’d have my watch reflect on my 5th gen iPad. Well, it doesn’t. We walked though resetting my watch and still nothing. Now she wants me to go though the reset process and take screen shots step-by-step so she can get it to their engineering team. I have no time for this. I am not on Apple’s payroll. It’s quite frustrating that their cord doesn’t work, nor does it reflect on my iPad. I’m stuck watching it on a 4 inch screen on my new Apple SE which I use with my new Apple Watch SE. so I asked if I can pause the trial and was told I want able to. It’s an endless circle of crap with this. I give up and just sticking to the peloton app which I love.

Not only won’t this work with screen mirroring but your Apple Watch won’t connect to your iPad so you don’t get any of your stats either. Apple’s strength has always been its integration of its products. Now my Apple TV 3rd gen won’t run Fitness+ and my iPad won’t work with my Apple Watch. You’re losing your touch Apple. This thing is going to fail if you don’t get some interoperability!

Following on my earlier post, today I tried using my IPad Pro and attaching it via its USB-C port to the HDMI input on my TV. No luck in getting the workout videos to mirror. Now I am getting a message --

"Cannot Play Video

The video for this workout is unavailable at this time

End Workout"

The videos that can be mirrored are the "Welcome to Fitness +" and the Previews all work.

I have seen a photo of a user hooking up the same way and his was working.

I am about to give up on Fitness +

Thank you for this question and everyone who posted a response. Thought it was just me. Called Apple support and advisor was trying to convince me it was a tv compatibility issue. I have a Roku tv. I found this discussion while they had me on hold investigating issue. Talked to 3 advisors. Told senior advisor of this discussion. Finally told me there is definitely an issue with screen sharing and it was nothing he could help with. Up to Apple to fix the issue. Sent me a link to provide my feedback. It will help since fitness+ was just released and there are bugs they need to fix. Hopefully, this will be fixed with the next software update. It is very disappointing!

This program is too new, I feel like their advisors do not know what’s going on, just follow the trouble shooting guideline. I, too, called Apple support got transferred around few times, different advisors different answers. Some of them admit it’s too new they do not know why. Some blame on my projector setting, some would say copy right content you need Apple TV. To me, I have faith this issue will be addressed in next update. It sounds like a bug. If it’s really a copy right content issue then USB C to HDMI wouldn’t have worked, and audio wouldn’t have went through. It’s just the video feed got blocked.

I hope you are correct but I´m not confident, The support agent cited the article that listed the requirements needed to play apple fitness+ and said it is not intended to be used with mirroring. I do agree that it´s strange that mirroring works until the watch kicks in. I can even watch instructional videos from apple fitness+ by mirroring but once the watch kicks in, the screen goes black.

what article did he cite? Is it in writing that Fitness+ is not intended to be used with mirroring? I would like to read that. I know they all going to send us an article of system requirement, which needs Apple Watch, Apple TV, or iPad and iPhone but it doesn't say anything about screen mirroring. My point is if some people can mirror with USB-C to HDMI then I don't see why they won't let us do it with Lighting to HDMI

Same issue for me, Apple, this will not compel me to buy Apple TV box, all it means it that once my free months are up, I will not buy the paid subscription. I’m an older person, trying to see the workouts on my phone simply isn’t feasible, iPad not a lot better and the iPad app has seized up several times, it’s the new iPad Air with up to date iOS. Cmon Apple, let us mirror or better still add this to the Apple TVs app on the tv, or allow the app to cast directly to the telly, we need a big screen for this but I will have already given you enough money, plenty of good workouts to be found elsewhere after all that I can see full screen.

After an hour or so on the phone with support I was told that it won’t work. Screen mirroring of Fitness+ will only work with the latest HD or 4K Apple TV. I have the older Apple TV and there’s no indication of support for that either.

I worked around it by plugging the iPad into the tv via the Digital AV (USB-C to HDMI) adapter. I assume the same would work with the iPhone using a lightening to HDMI adapter.

It’s not an elegant solution, but you can at least control the fitness+ session with the watch so can leave the iPad / iPhone by the tv whilst you workout.
