Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

Fitness Plus does need to get in shape. From any objective standard, competitors such as Beachbody is a far superior product in all content and effectiveness. In Apple.’s fitness plus the longest workouts are 30 minutes including warmups, which just is not serious time for people who are getting and staying fit. Nor does Fitness Plus have needed exercise details, Or tocus on the muscle and form.

Apple’s product is brand new, versus competitors content of months or years of tried and tested videos. I could go on, but it’s good apple got in for completion sake, let’s just hope Apple will take Fitness plus seriously.

This is also the case for me and my wife. I bought a lightning to HDMI adapter so she could play the workouts from iPhone to our Roku TV (which is too old for the Airplay 2.0 release) for the video to cut away the moment the workout started. I have an iPad Pro, so we turned the iPad camera onto the iPhone screen and put the camera view of the iPad onto the TV. It is far from an ideal solution and cheapens the entire experience, I feel cheated by Apple on this. I do not know if this is a bug/hiccup, software issue, or withholding on Apple’s part, but I would expect them to at least issue a statement about it. It would seem unsustainable behavior for consumers to spend $$$ for a bandaid level feature.

Call me a sell out. I had to know if Fitness+ really worked at all. So I went to samsclub and got the 4K tv streamer.

yes it works seamlessly.

I am attaching a screenshot of what Apple support sent me on whether or not they are doing a work around so we can use the older Apple TV. That answer is a resounding NO.

My son just had surgery Friday so this is a blessing in a way so I can workout at home when I can’t go out and jog.

Also to put to rest....NO. Apple is NOT giving anyone a credit for any reason to buy the HD or 4K tv.

Indeed screen mirroring will not work… Had the same problem… You do need an Apple TV not to be confused with Apple TV+! .. I had to get out of screen mirroring… Re Open one of the workouts… In the bottom right you’ll see a little symbol as seen in attached photo ...Touch that symbol and then select your Apple TV your Apple TV

Yeah I had the same issues. As far as Fitness+ on the iPad, you need to download the app to use it. I downloaded the app to get a slightly bigger screen using my iPad, but still frustrating nonetheless.

I mistakenly thought this would work on AppleTV+ on Roku, since you have to sign on with your Apple ID. We just bought a watch specifically for this, and were going to subscribe to Premier plan specifically for this. Even watching on an iPad seems crazy when there's a 65" screen right in front of us. So, perhaps cancelling the watch, and saving $300+ a year. I don't want to buy another streaming device to put on a smart TV.

I called Apple yesterday - there was nothing they can do. For now, you cannot stream it unless you have an Apple TV.

I told them I spent:

-$300 for an Apple Watch SE

-$400 for a new iPhone SE

-$50 for an Apple lightning cord

They told me to buy a $150 Apple TV....go to **** Apple.

Apple Support, that we’re forced to do idiotic things like this to screen mirror Fitness+ to a TV is insane.

Airplay 2 and screen mirroring should be supported by default on all of your apps. Get it together.

So hoping this issue is only temporary. I have a new iPhone , I bought an Apple Watch earlier in 2020, and I’m willing to buy a Fitness+ subscription , but only if I can hook up to my current tv with HDMI lightning cord (also Apple) . I can’t believe Apple would turn away free money cause customers don’t have an Apple TV ?

Just spoken to Apple support for the 2nd time about this... first time saying it was a bug that will get fixed, today it’s not supported at all! This is ridiculous, why should we as the consumers have to pay £150 for a new Apple TV just to have the luxury of viewing the workouts on our tv’s!

hope Apple sees this because consider my fitness plus subscription cancelled! My faith in Apple is dwindling by the second at this point!

It was just confirmed with me that you need an Apple TV to view the workout on your tv. I just spent $4000 on a new tv setup that can stream all my apple devices flawlessly except for this one app! I have 2 iPhones, 2 watches, 2 laptops, and an iPad but this is making me reconsider it all. Fitness plus is definitely not going to get renewed if this continues to be a issue.

OMG it's not just me .. I have been faffing about with QuickTime and our Sony TV all day .. I have an Apple TV it's just not with me at the house today .. what's worse is I have Apple TV on my iMac and you can't even run Fitness Plus on that .. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT APPLE? Honestly you should be able to watch the fitness videos on an iMac!!

Just a rant, I have nothing to add to this conversation other than my own frustration.

if it works on USB C I hope Apple will fix this issue for Lightening connection.

I thought it must have been an IPad pro which has a USB-C connection. Sorry if I was mistaken.

I will try a USB-C / HDMI connection and will post results.

On the Mac Rumors site there is also some mention of USB-C / HDMI working.

I have just attempted this - the audio transfers successfully to the TV, but the video stream is blacked out by the application.
