Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

Why is screen mirroring from iphone to lg tv not working. Preview of fitness session works, countdown of session works. Screen goes black with audio only once session begins. How do I fix this?

I apologize for not making things more clear.

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.

yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.

i am sore today because of it.

mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.

I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.

As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.

Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Actually that's not quite correct. Now the latest Peloton (no bike required, just a monthly service fee just like Fitness+) option works flawlessly with the apple watch, integrates heart rate and zone data on the live screen. Its a lot like Apple Fitness+ except they permit the user to display everything on your TV using standard protocols today (what a concept). I was surprised to discover this service as I thought Peloton only worked with their own bikes etc, but they have a new offering that only requires an iPhone, and if you have the iWatch then it fully integrates. Really cool.

Ironically, I discovered this only because I was so excited to join Apple Fitness+ and then so disappointed (horrified) to discover they lock out all broadcast options to TV unless you buy the latest AppleTV hardware which I absolutely don't need.

The way Apple chose to handle the situation when confronted with the facts directly led me to discover this Peleton offering that is very sensible.

weird.. if it's DRM issue then iPad Pro USB-C to HDMI shouldn't be able to work either. But people with USB-C to HDMI can get it to work... I've used lighting to HDMI adapter to play Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime to my portable projector all without a problem, only Fitness+

And, if it's DRM issue you usually get an error message, then nothing at all. not like this, where audio can be broadcasted to TV, but video feed stuck on iPhone. This really seems like a bug they need to fix on next update.

Your question of Apple supporting or not supporting fitness + is not what is up for debate.

Its the fact that other people with Lightning HDMI adapters intending to put iPhone and iPad content on big screens now can’t 100% of the time. And according to Apple’s website, the product description says the following:

“Overview

Use the Lightning Digital AV Adapter with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with Lightning connector. The Lightning Digital AV Adapter supports mirroring of what is displayed on your device screen — including apps, presentations, websites, slideshows, and more — to your HDMI-equipped TV, display, projector, or other compatible display in up to 1080p HD.

It also outputs video content — movies, TV shows, captured video — to your big screen in up to 1080p HD. Simply attach the Lightning Digital AV Adapter to the Lightning connector on your device and then to your TV or projector via an HDMI cable (sold separately).

I have an Apple 4K and it goes black on that as well too. Really frustrating.

I did try the Fitness app on the Apple 4K and it tried to pair with my watch but then immediately said pairing failed.

I have only found one way to do it - I have a new IPAD Air and it has the USB-C port. Got a USB-C to HDMI adapter and it works well. I tried thru older IPAD with lightning to HDMI adapter and it did not work.

As much as I love Apple, there is a host of crap like this that they do - maddening. Household with 6 phones; 6 watches; 6 Airpods; five Macbooks; 3-4 apple TV; 6 or 7 IPADs; 1 MAC. They have burned a lot of good will with me recently. Too tied in to switch but they really need to get their act together.

I read the feed on this and called Apple to request the $150 credit for an Apple TV. They transferred me to 4 different people - starting with tech support, then sales, then post sales, then iTunes and all said that no such credit was available. The final response I got from iTunes support was that this is a known issue and that they expect it to be fixed with some future software update - we’ll see.

What Apple Watch do you have?

Yes, you need one. Apple Watch personalizes your Apple Fitness+ experience by integrating your personal metrics, like your heart rate and the calories you burn, into every workout. It brings them to life on the screen to keep you informed and motivated. To use Apple Fitness+ on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, an Apple Watch Series 3 or later is required.

Apple Fitness+ is available in

  1. The United States
  2. Canada
  3. Australia
  4. New Zealand
  5. The United Kingdom
  6. Ireland

@frankdennis and others

As stated before, I did give in and purchase the Apple 4K tv.

I do not own a pair of earbuds from Apple. I use Bose. Better sound IMHO.

I have no issues with the workouts and pairing my watch to the fitness workout was quite quick and painless. In fact all I had to do was press a button on my watch and Bam! It was hooked up.

I stated before I am not happy with the way Apple is doing this either. I would hope they would fix the issue however I do t think there will be a fix.

min in a unique position because I care for someone else, I simply can’t leave the house right now. So the workouts are really helpful. And most of them are great.

I do think they need more of a variety of them. But I have found many that I follow along with and like.

I am on A 90day free trial, like many others are. I also bought the Apple TV with a 90 day return policy.

Fingers crossed Ape does something about the way we have to jump through hoops to participate, especially if we have to pay $10 a month to use the fitness app.

I may move over to the Pelaton app myself.

on a side note, you are given a year free Apple TV + when you buy the new 4K or HD model. So that does help offset the price.

But I agree that today most of us can I’ll afford to Planck down another almost $200 for Apple TV, especially if we have several Apple TV’s already, along with all other Apple products.

I love Apple products. I bought watches for myself and a family member, bought iPhones, and a new MacBook Pro, all in the past few months. One of the main reasons was their suite of media products, including Apple Fitness +. I signed up for Apple One Premier because of Music, News and Apple Fitness. Yet it's impossible to see Apple Fitness + workouts on our smart TVs, even though they're set up correctly and mirroring does work. (My husband's an engineer and IT guy, so he knows what he's doing.) To learn that NOT letting customers see the workout video is a deliberate strategy by Apple seems to me to be an example of false advertising. You can't work out using the tiny screen on your iPhone. It's absurd. I realize that Apple prides itself on retaining control over all their products, and I understand their concern about people copying workouts. But if their workout slate is varied and diverse enough, they shouldn't need to worry. I feel misled and cheated by the company. Like many other people, we're Apple shareholders too, so it's extremely disappointing. I've spent thousands on Apple products in the past few months and been delighted with all of them until now. Apple needs to fix this problem. It's completely unacceptable, particularly at a time when people are stuck at home trying their best to stay healthy.
