I apologize for not making things more clear.

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.

yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.

i am sore today because of it.

mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.

I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.

As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.

Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

This program is too new, I feel like their advisors do not know what’s going on, just follow the trouble shooting guideline. I, too, called Apple support got transferred around few times, different advisors different answers. Some of them admit it’s too new they do not know why. Some blame on my projector setting, some would say copy right content you need Apple TV. To me, I have faith this issue will be addressed in next update. It sounds like a bug. If it’s really a copy right content issue then USB C to HDMI wouldn’t have worked, and audio wouldn’t have went through. It’s just the video feed got blocked.

No it’s confirmed it does not work with lighting to HDMI. USB C to HDMI does work. That’s why it sounds like a bug need to be fixed to me.

it’s funny they tell people you need APPLE TV 4K or HD to airplay mirroring. If you have Apple TV 4K why would you airplay, just use the native fitness+ app in the Apple TV man. I personally have two Apple TV 4K at my home, just not in the gym room. And I refuse to move or buy another one. I just need the cable to work! I want to connect my phone to my portable projector!

Can't express enough how agitated I am that I can't airplay the actual workouts to a TV.. Who the **** is going to do a work out on the iPhone -- especially when there is a perfectly good TV right there. The USB-C adapter DOES work from a newer iPad, while the lightning adapter fails to work. I suspect they will be removing the ability for the USB-C to work soon.

I had been so looking forward to the Fitness+ and was a huge reason I shifted over to the Apple One top tier. ****** me off to be giving apple money and they are blocking airplay.... Fix this!

I was just stunned with the same problem, here in the UK, and it shows the 3.2.1 and then goes black. I called Apple customer support, the tried a lot of strange things, like connect the watch to the TV, finally I found this forum and they referred me to sales, they tried to refer me back to care but in the end the answer was, no, you don't get a voucher for a Apple TV like people in the US, all you can do is wait if Apple will fix this. Sorry, try again Apple. I won't buy an Apple TV just to be able to use your service. In the meantime my subscription will probably end before I can use it. I even did get an extension for that service so I can wait longer for Apple to "solve" that. Which shows me that this is probably not true. I am really a fan of Apple products and use them professionally, now really disappointed in the service. Thankfully there are other products, and I just have to look at my watch instead of see it on my screen.

Currently Apple support does not agree that it is a "problem" , therefore officially there is no plan to fix it. Ironically, the website apple support always sends you to to register feedback on a product/service doesn't even list the Fitness+ as an option to give feedback on. Thus the Fitness+ division is totally isolated and it will be interesting to see if/when/how they even discover this issue and then decide whether its a problem to fix or not.

i have the same issue, i was able to play some content and see video but believe this may be a DRM protection issue on the video content. Not sure how to resolve. i have tried airplay as well as HDMI -Lightening cable both have the same issue. Will be interested to see if DI Padova gets a free appleTV, i'm guessing he purchased a watch and phone and they are using that to justify , i can't see them doing this for everyone. i spent an hour on the phone trying to resolve. 3 techs later i'm was sent a long email with suggestions i had already found.

The issue is not unique to Apple Fitness Plus, I tried NIKE's app and it had a similar response. once the class "video" begins the screen goes blank. I tried this via Airplay as well as lightening to HDMI on 2 different displays (Samsung and Sony) using 2 different HDMI cables. Once should be able to stream anything from Phone/Ipad via an HDMI output consistently not just for some apps. I do not think this was intentional on Apple's part, i think they are not paying attention to consistent user experiences.

I paid (with my hard earned money) for a a different Apple product that says it will play iPad and iPhone content on a big screen. Except it’s now it does NOT because Apple itself it’s restricting said content on a technicality that it A. Failed to mention and/or B. Decided to introduce at a later time, rendering other costly devices useless. So...no. Apple is not giving you EXACTLY what they said.

To put it simply I thought it was funny how ridiculous I had to workaround to get my phone screen on my tv with Apple Fitness +. Because of this thread I went ahead and got the Peloton App trial and that thing is great. Airplay works just fine. The only difference is that I don’t get my watch stats on screen but that doesn’t kill me. Also I felt that Apple had better production quality but their lack of workouts available as the lack of functionality is a no for me. Also just a thought but I assume it won’t work because AirPlay might use a combination of Bluetooth and wifi to stream airplay. Your Apple Watch uses the same Bluetooth and wifi to get stats and show on your phone screen. As of now I don’t think there is a way to efficiently connect multiple devices to the same connections especially with airplay streaming. Maybe the engineers are figuring it out. When they do I might come back, for now some of you should try peloton app. This was great advertising by Apple for peloton in my honest opinion.

Here's something that just occurred to me: we have an Echelon bike and rower, and use the Echelon app almost daily on an iPad 5th gen. That connects with both the bike and a speaker via BT at the same time. It's pulling loads of data from the bike during a ride. I can, without issue, run that video through my lightning/HDMI dongle and play it on a TV just fine.

If that works, how is it any different for my iPhone 12 to mirror both the Watch and Fitness data via the same dongle? Apple must have either intentionally or unintentionally omitted this feature.

Apple has a lightning to HDMI adapter for it's products for the sole purpose of connecting a smaller screen from an iPhone or Ipad to a larger screen. HDMI is an industry-standard. The video and audio should meet the standard and work. It does not and should be corrected in the video play programming within Fitness plus and other apps using embedded video.
