Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

Why is screen mirroring from iphone to lg tv not working. Preview of fitness session works, countdown of session works. Screen goes black with audio only once session begins. How do I fix this?

I apologize for not making things more clear.

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.

yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.

i am sore today because of it.

mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.

I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.

As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.

Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Agree that this seems to be more of a fight than a debate. Apple can simply put this to rest with a simple statement on if it should work, with what devices and adapters and what will ever work with the devices/adapters out there.

Clearly most people didn’t realize they would need Apple TV hardware or a upgrade to iPad Pro with USB-C. And if we buy an iPad Pro what is the guarantee that won’t get turned off.

Come on Apple!!!!!!!!!!! Put an end to this BS!!!!!!!!!

You haven't looked very hard. Just do a search here and you will see complaints about people trying to mirror to their TV's certain streaming content and they get only audio, not video. This is not in anyway new. It is also pretty clear Apple is attempting to make Fitness + interactive and that will probably increase in the future.

And yes, Apple is trying to sell product. Is that really so shocking? There is one thread here where a person is claiming this is a money grab for Apple to sell more Apple Watches. They claim it should work without an Apple Watch.

But it is exactly what Apple released it as by their design. If you want to tell Apple that you don't like it then use their feedback channels and tell them. Posting here won't do anything. And whenever Apple (or any tech company) releases anything there are people who will be upset. Apple expects that.

hahaha... Genius. Sorry you have to go through all these machinations to use the product. $1200 phones, $2000 computers and you can't mirror one to the other. No, you have to buy another $300 product to do so. Insane. I hope they see this because they should be ashamed of themselves for having a consumer go through this to use their products. C'mon apple, do better.

I have the same problem. I went out today and bought a lightening adapter and HDMI cable and I was disappointed to find out the fitness videos would not mirror onto my smart TV. I just called Apple support on this and talked to a “senior advisor” who was anything but helpful. I explained that the Apple/fitness site should explain that Apple fitness is not compatible for mirroring fitness videos with any Smart TV other than an Apple TV, and his solution was I should have first read the FAQs on Apple support. Interesting he would suggest that since the FAQs don’t give that information either! This rep was not willing to give any credit toward the purchase of an Apple TV. Very disappointing customer service.

I have submitted 3 separate feedback forms (one each for iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch). I suggest we all do the same.

What's funny (or maybe sad) is that they still have no Fitness + option to provide feedback directly on that App. And as of just now, they have still not updated the latest versions of the OS on any of the forms I submitted.

iPhone lists 14.2

iPad lists 14.2

Watch lists 7.0.1

I would think these would be updated when they release the OS to the public.

Well, Happy New Year to all and here's hoping Apple delivers what we all need!!!

Just chatted with support and the advisor assured me that this is being worked on. Not sure how a first tier support person would know something that more senior people didn't,

They don't.

Apple does not provide any technical support people with the big picture. The most they are empowered to say is Apple is aware of the issue.

Apple will not discuss policy over the phone as part of a technical support interaction. No good will come of that.

As maddening as that may be to hear, it is the reality.

I have the same frustration, I am in full Apple camp. They allow me to share presentations for meetings from every other device I own, using the standard lightening or USB C, but when I get a bit of down time in my gym I can't play my workout on the big TV using these cables.

My wife is laughing at me for splashing out on a new Watch and yet her cheaper Les Mills classes play perfectly on the gym TV, with more mature content.

This is a joke, why have they applied these restrictions I simple can't see any benefit, or is it just to sell Apple TV, so not investing in a product that will have no other purpose.

So Apple after the trial I will be cancelling and signing up to a cheaper online service with no restrictions.

Just my thought, but why would Apple “fix” this issue.

they are making more money this way.

thise that want to use Fitness+ will buy into the 4K streaming tv.

I am just as upset as everyone else, but I do not see any time soon or otherwise that Apple will change things and allow us to stream the workout to the tv from the iPad, other than the preview.

think about it.

we can already do that much. How much time do they really need to make it stream the entire video and not just the preview when they already let us do part of it.

it is t going to happen. And I for one am very upset over it!

Have you tried looking into your setting and adjusting the microphone setting via accessibility? If you run multiple applications in the background, the permissions from those applications(to access your camera or microphone,) will not carry over to the screen mirroring application. Even if you give your LG permission to access your camera and microphone if you have apps that utilize the hearing and visual accessibilities, they may interfere with your tether. Please do not send your personal info or any sensitive information in your reply, should you have one.

The key is to send this in a feedback to Apple, either in a phone call or even better an email. We agree with you, but posting opinions here in a tech board won't get the result we all want - just to know Apple's true answer to this.

There is also alot of speculation, rants and hearsay on the Board here, which we all know never gets a solution, let's get facts to Apple and posted here.

I found this worked (2018 iPad Pro / 2020 27" iMac)

Physically connect your iPad/iPhone to the iMac.

Open QuickTime Player app on the iMac.

Go to File>New Movie Recording on menu.

In the middle of the screen is a red record button. Click on the down arrow to the right of it.

Select the iPad/iPhone device from the list for both audio and camera.

It will take a bit for the iPad/iPhone device to show in the list.

The picture and sound will then be on the iMac. :)

This was inspired by another posting (stlbob01) that suggested how to connect iPad to TV HDMI:

Has anyone attempted to mirror an IPad with USB C? There is a video on You Tube showing that it worked for him https://youtu.be/xSEKzov6X-c
