Fitness+ Apple Watch pairing and Apple TV airplay issues

so glad i’m not the only one who keeps getting the “Pairing Canceled” message DESPITE doing all the necessary upgrades across my Apple devices. i’m assuming it’s a glitch and we should be on the lookout for a 14.3.1 update soon. it is day 1 after all...

I’m having the same issue as well. I have an AppleTV HD and an Apple Watch Series 4. All my devices are on the latest OSs that I downloaded today. My iPhone 11 and iPad Air seem to work now, but the iPad couldn’t download the fitness app until an hour ago.

this is a very subpar rollout of a service! I’m really disappointed.

Same Issue 3 different AppleTVs and 3 different apple watches everything updated to latest OS. All results are exactly the same..... "Pairing Cancelled". Apple really pooped the bed on this roll out.

I was hoping this wasn’t going to be the answer but it was the obvious last thing to try before waiting for a patch? Did it work for you?

Are you still able to log in? (One other person posted that they just shut their devices down and then power up and logged in a few times successfully, but then it stopped working.)

I was able to resolve the issue by deleting the default user from the Apple TV, then re-adding a default user using the iPhone proximity setup method. It then worked okay. Although my Memoji icon associated with my iCloud account isn't showing anymore. I think the issue is to do with Apple IDs.

Yes I reset everything, Apple TV, watch and phone. I even reset the watch and downloaded from backup. None of this worked. What finally worked was the step of “finishing” the setup of my Apple TV where I had to hold my phone near it. Not sure what this step did it’s been working as expected for over a year. Anyway that made it work with my watch. No word yet on if it’ll work with my wife’s watch.

After updating my AppleTV HD and configuring HomeKit, I followed this process and was able to find success connecting my AppleWatch Series 4. My Memoji icon does not show up either, but the watch paired without having to create another account every time I want to work out. I'm very unimpressed with this rollout but hope over the next few days things will get smoother. Had issues with iPad Pro. All seems to be configured. But it wasn't without a lot of work, troubleshooting and finding community and help in these threads.

I am having the issue also and Apple Support just is not responding . (Hanging up on me or dropped calls I’m not sure.) Very disappointed . What’s the point in free if it fails to work? This is a great idea but I have a bad feeling about this.

No need to do a reset of anything. Perform the following:

On the Apple TV go to Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit. I selected the Room to change the Name, but ensuring the HomeKit settings are completed should fix it. It will ask to pair your phone with the Apple TV.

Go back to the Fitness App and it should pair without issue.

I was hopeful as I followed these directions but it did not work.

Since I had time, I completed a FULL reset of the AppleTV and tried again.

Unfortunately, I'm still receiving the "Pairing Canceled" message. :(

I have the same issue here. My Apple Watch Series 5 will not connect at all, even after hard resetting both the Apple TV and watch. My wife has the exact same Series 5 and hers connects without any issues at all. Very frustrating!!

Nope, no red asterisks on any device. And all devices are 100% updated, including a full reset/setup of the ATV including the "home" setup that you found helpful. I also tried the suggestion of holding the watch close to the TV and that did not work, unfortunately.

I've found that I can use the Fitness+ app on the phone to screen share with the ATV but clearly using the native ATV app would be preferable.

Interesting, because it seems to have resolved this issue for most people, and resolved for me on both Apple TV's. I could consistently reproduce it.

The other thing I noticed on my phone is when I used the remote app to control the Apple TV, it would list one of them twice, one of which was a "ghost" that did not work. I resolved that issue at the same time, and that may have contributed to the pairing being resolved. I am assuming since you did a full reset that you probably don't have that issue too.

Logout of the Apple TV, sign back in. That worked for me. Originally it showed my wife’s watch and not mine, and I couldn’t get it to connect to mine. Once i logged out and back in, mine showed, but hers didn’t. Was able to add hers with no problem free the sign in

Guys! I had the same problem ( Apple Watch nit pairing with Apple TV and fitness+) but it started working!! Let me tell you how. I was trying to pair for like the hundred time and while waiting my power went out. Ones my Apple TV loaded and my wifi was up, I opened the Fitness app in my Apple TV and boom! It was working!!! Don’t know why but I’m in!!
