SOLVED: Importing any .m4a file into Voice Memos

Saw a lot of people inquire about how to do this, so I did some research and found a solution. This used to be much easier a few years ago, but Apple has made it impossible to import .m4a files from an old device into a new one, for whatever reason. You can't even find the Voice Memo's section on iTunes anymore.

The solution I found?

  1. Go to: https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-m4a
  2. Upload the .m4a file (or other file you desire to be in your Voice Memo's app)
  3. Convert it (even if it's already an .m4a file) to .m4a, and download it to your laptop
  4. Drag and drop the converted file into the Voice Memo's app on your MacBook
  5. Voila

I'm not sure why the Voice Memo's app doesn't recognize older .m4a files from others iPhones you have used in the past, but it doesn't. Somehow 're-converting' it to .m4a with that site worked like magic for me, and I was able to upload all my Voice Memo's into the app.
