SOLVED: Importing any .m4a file into Voice Memos
Saw a lot of people inquire about how to do this, so I did some research and found a solution. This used to be much easier a few years ago, but Apple has made it impossible to import .m4a files from an old device into a new one, for whatever reason. You can't even find the Voice Memo's section on iTunes anymore.
The solution I found?
- Go to: https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-m4a
- Upload the .m4a file (or other file you desire to be in your Voice Memo's app)
- Convert it (even if it's already an .m4a file) to .m4a, and download it to your laptop
- Drag and drop the converted file into the Voice Memo's app on your MacBook
- Voila
I'm not sure why the Voice Memo's app doesn't recognize older .m4a files from others iPhones you have used in the past, but it doesn't. Somehow 're-converting' it to .m4a with that site worked like magic for me, and I was able to upload all my Voice Memo's into the app.
