iphone 12 pro max Face ID not working

Hey guys.

I picked up my new 12 pro max last Monday.

On Tuesday evening the true depth cam stopped working properly. Face ID and selfie cameras did not detect a face.

Tried all resets and restoring my phone and none worked.

As if by magic 24hrs later it started working again as it should do.

Then Sunday evening it happened again. And is still not working.

I’ve spent hours on support chat and never had any issues with all my iPhones over the past 10 years.

can anyone help?

I just unboxed and set up the phone and when I restarted it to put in the sim, the face idea stopped working. I reset my Face ID and now it won’t even let me set it up again. I just get this message to “try later”.

Hi Jenna

I tried everything from hard reset to reloading iOS.

nothing worked.

then magically it just started working a few days later and has been fine ever since.

the o2 store had a replacement phone for me if I wanted it but after the hours and hours of wasted time I couldn’t be bothered to setup a new phone.

if it fails again I’ll take it to the Genius Bar.
