Apple Watch not pairing with fitness plus on IPAD

Hi!

Was very excited to be able to workout from home with this app but am quickly realizing its many limitations. First, working out with an iPhone sized screen is great if you are a gerbil or small field mouse but 6’4” bouncing around trying to see a spec on the screen is not what I’d call a revolutionary experience as i would imagine their videos would claim.

My ipad is current and i have the fitness app downloaded. Bluetooth and wireless both on... Workouts will play but my ipad doesn’t find my watch. Might as well be watching YOUTUBE workout videos for free if Apple can’t sort this out. Certainly not worth 10 bucks a month.

Equally important.. people want to be able to see their workouts on their big screen. This sort of thing is great when the whole family can join in. We do not have Apple TV, nor will we ever buy Apple TV. Trying to make people possess both to enjoy workout content on non Apple TV’s is a bad business move IMHO. I’ll dump this app like a bad habit before having to pay if they don’t add that capability.

APPLE-you have BILLIONS in the bank, let us cast to our non apple products or lose millions of potential subscribers who get tired of dancing in front of a 5 inch screen.

I had issue with iPad but not the iPhone. I tried restarting devices as well as log off and log back in. Neither worked.

I fixed the issue by launching the Home app on iPad for the very first time. I never used the app once on the iPad before. Just launch the app and let it fully loaded, then click Continue button on the welcome message. Then I come back to the fitness app and it works. There might be some shared components between home and fitness.

Not sure if this will help everyone, but I toggled bluetooth off and on again on my watch (SE), worked fine after that, and has continued to do so on my devices (iPhone SE, iPad mini 4). I'd previously tried turning all my devices off and on again, removing and adding the Fitness app, signing out of iCloud, but the toggle was the only thing that seemed to work for my particular case, after all that! Hope it helps someone else.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having such a painful experience. I spent two hours yesterday updating the software on my Apple Watch and trying to figure out a way to cast the video from my phone to MacBook. Seems like it should be pretty straightforward but apparently the only way to do it is to have an Apple TV. incredibly obnoxious!! Now I can't get the fitness+ app to find my watch. Clearly I won't be subscribing after the free trial. Too bad cause I like Bakari and used to do his workouts when he was with ClassPass Live.

I am having the same issue as the original post author mentioned. I also tried resetting my device, deleting all data and also redoing the steps mentioned on deleting the fitness app, restarted and I am still struggling to connect it to the iPad. The fitness app just doesn’t find the Iwatch. I do have 2 Apple TV’s and Apple fitness + works very well on them. I believe this is a software issue on the IPad, hopefully the developers fix this before my trial evaluation runs out. I use an IPad on my threadmill and it is really helpful to have to not look at a small iPhone screen.

My issue was that the apple watch and iPad wasn't on the latest OS. It's now on watchOS 7.2, iPhone is on iOS 14.3 and, iPad is on iPadOS 14.3. I also made sure I was using the same iCloud account across the three devices. The fitness app on iPad (with bluetooth on) didn't seem to trigger the watch until after I selected "Lets Go" on a workout.

I was able to get both of my IPads to work with Apple Fitness and my Apple watch by signing out of Icloud in both , deleting the Fitness app on both, signing back into Icloud and then redownloading the Apple Fitness app on the IPad. I did each Ipad separately. Now when I start a workout on either Ipad the activity starts up on my watch.

Rant aside from the above post, my issue is Fitness+ was working fine connecting to both my iPhone and Apple TV so I could exercise from my big TV. I then tried to connect it to my iPad and everything went south. Not I can’t get my apple Wartch Series 6 to connect to anything. I have an iPhone 12Pro, Apple TV4k, 3rd Gen iPad all running the lates OS. Tried all the solutions listed in this post to no avail. In MHO this seems to have something o do with the iPad because my phone and AppleTV were working fine until I attempted to connect to the iPad. I do hope this gets resolved soon as like the guy above said why spend $$$ if it doesn’t work.... Maybe consider rebate until it gets solved.

FIXED!!! After trying everything I read online and over 80 minutes with Apple via chat I discovered I had some apps that showed "waiting" and when I clicked on them it said they needed to be updated so I just deleted them. Scoured my iPad and deleted all those and then magically the watch paired so Apple Fitness + works properly.

I hope this helps!
