UPS status “... transferred to a free zone..”

My MacBook pro finally arrived to canada. I've been following the pacel over the last couple of days and I came up with the status around "...parcel been transferred to a free trade- zone area. "

First time I order a MacBook so don't know what this means.. I do understand that parcels have to pass customs... However, it has already crossed border. Any ideas on this status?

It's really the 'non-UPS broker' that is relevant. It's UPS saying the package has been transferred to a 3rd party for customs clearance. That 3rd party will then give it back to UPS to complete delivery. Basically, it's a way for UPS to cover themselves if the package is lost or damaged during customs clearance, and there's really nothing you can do about it at this point, nor anything to be concerned about unless the package fails to arrive.
