Apple Fitness+ disconnecting from device

For the second day in a row this has happened. Both days it happened on the 2nd workout selected. First workout was fine, connected to the watch, status updated all in real time. During the 2nd workout immediately after, it started fine and was updating the stats but about halfway through the workout the stats onscreen on the Apple TV stopped updating even though the workout was still going, both on the watch (with accurate stats) and the Apple TV with progressing workout, but not the up to date stats from the Apple Watch. A few minutes later an error message popped up saying the connection to the device was lost and the workout stopped. You can't pick up or continue a workout where you left off. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've experience the same problem. About half of my workouts get interrupted this way. It's very frustrating to say the least.

Apple, the UI around this disconnections is terrible and way below your standard. At minimum, you should:

1) Allow workouts to continue where they were interrupted. Right now, you must start again from the beginning.

2) Allow fast-forwarding of the workout video using the AppleTV remote. Why isn't this supported?

You have a killer product here, just get the fine tuning patch done ASAP!

Thx!

Today, I was able to make it to the end of a 30 minute workout without getting a “device connection lost” message.

I connected my AirPods Pro to my Apple TV. Then, I started the workout on my iPhone and airplayed the workout to the Apple TV.

It seems to me that this is further evidence that the Apple TV can’t handle a dual bluetooth connection while conducting a workout.

Same issue - had both AirPods and watch connected to Apple TV and halfway through I got device connection lost error message and can’t find a way to get back to where I was. So much for a ‘chill’ yoga workout. Pretty sure that frustration is the opposite of the intended effect. Hope it’s something that can be done at some point.

Completed many workouts on ATV with AW SE. No problems until working out today when the metrics seemed to stop on the ATV and I received an error message - device disconnected. Seemed that the image quality was worsening prior to disconnection as if my broad ands was slowing momentarily. Could be the cause of the disconnection? I wasn’t using AirPods for this workout. Very frustrating that you can’t restart a workout from the point of disconnection or forward to that point once restarting. Clearly a glitch in the software and a shortcoming in the interface on ATV. Hopefully addressed through an update soon.

Absolutely terrible, and I'm really glad I'm on a free trial. Over 50% of the time this happens. I have nothing else linked to my Apple TV, I'm like 2-3 feet MAX from the Apple TV (I'm literally standing too close to the TV because of this), no AirPods, and I'm getting this pretty consistently. I don't understand why it has to stop the workout. Why can't it just continue the workout and I just don't get the on screen stats? I mean my watch workout can still continue, it just drops the stats from the screen. Super frustrating.

Me too ... i've been battling the same problem for the last week. I first used apple fitness with my iPad and AirPod pros, all worked great. Then I switched to my Apple TV and AirPod pros, and it failed every day for the next 5 days. Assuming it was a networking issue, I tried multiple things, switching WiFi networks (I have multiple in the house), turning off WiFi on my watch, using Ethernet on the Apple TV, and nothing fixed it. The suggestions from this thread solves the problem, i.e. don't use AirPods connected to AppleTV ... of course this is less than ideal and am hoping apple is working on a fix or a replacement program for Apple TVs.

I have the same issue if I use the Airpods Pro with my Apple 6 watch and Apple 4 TV. I was using another companies wireless earbuds, Aukey, with no problems. As soon as I purchased the Airpods Pro I have continuous disconnect issues. Apple has to know about this issue, I am shocked they have not addressed the issue with a fix or workaround.

I had this happen to me during a 45 min class. at 31min mark the Apple TV errored out with Device disconnected. I am using my HomePods as the sound output . I have had about 5 successful uses of Apple fitness and this is the first failure.

Apple will need to incorporate "resume" feature in next update because starting over every time a disconnect happens is NOT an option.

Same issue here. Apple TV with Apple Watch 6 and AirPods Pro connected. Can make it about 20 minutes into a work out and then connection is gone. I do notice the stats on the tv go out of sync well before the connection lost notice pops up. Very frustrating to have to restart a workout instead of being able to pick up where you left off. Apple please release a fix ASAP or I will not be renewing my subscription.

we are having the same issues...Apple TV and Apple Watch...all software up to date. Certain this is a bug that will hopefully soon be resolved. I will echo what many others are saying...in addition to fixing the bug...Apple needs to make it so the entire workout doesn’t stop if the Watch and Apple TV disconnect.
