Apple Fitness+ disconnecting from device

For the second day in a row this has happened. Both days it happened on the 2nd workout selected. First workout was fine, connected to the watch, status updated all in real time. During the 2nd workout immediately after, it started fine and was updating the stats but about halfway through the workout the stats onscreen on the Apple TV stopped updating even though the workout was still going, both on the watch (with accurate stats) and the Apple TV with progressing workout, but not the up to date stats from the Apple Watch. A few minutes later an error message popped up saying the connection to the device was lost and the workout stopped. You can't pick up or continue a workout where you left off. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've experience the same problem. About half of my workouts get interrupted this way. It's very frustrating to say the least.

Apple, the UI around this disconnections is terrible and way below your standard. At minimum, you should:

1) Allow workouts to continue where they were interrupted. Right now, you must start again from the beginning.

2) Allow fast-forwarding of the workout video using the AppleTV remote. Why isn't this supported?

You have a killer product here, just get the fine tuning patch done ASAP!

Thx!

I haven't been able to get through a single workout yet without disconnecting several times, then eventually the workout ends because it stayed disconnected too long. I'm 5 feet away from the Apple TV 4K, with a Watch 4, all on latest iOS. Have cycled devices. No other bluetooth connection aside from my phone. Thoroughly frustrated, and am rethinking my subscription.

I want to update my previous post with a bit of a breakthrough this morning. I have three Apple TVs; two are A1625 (32gb), and one is A1842 (64gb). I also one a regular Air Pod and an Air Pod Pro. My Apple Watch is a version 3. Up to this morning I have used both my A1625 Apple TVs to do the treadmill workouts with my Air Pods and every one has aborted at some point during the workout. This morning I used my A1842 Apple TV with my Air Pods and made it through a 30 minute treadmill workout with only a couple of pauses at the beginning. Tomorrow I'll try my Air Pod Pros and see it it continues to work.

Don't use AirPods to work out with but still keeps disconnecting from the Apple TV 4K. such as shame as the fitness + concept is so good and motivational. The issue is clearly something that apple need to sort quickly as you can't start a workout and 10 mins in abort and not be able to restart from where you left off or even fast forward to the part of the workout where it ended.

Tried something different this evening, I started the workout in the Fitness app on my iPhone 12 Pro, then AirPlay'd it to the Apple TV. The watch stayed connected to the app, and I was able to finish my workout for the first time, and it continuously updated properly on the TV screen. And when the workout ended, and I closed it on the phone, the TV app stayed onscreen. It's as if the phone was an intermediary or router between the watch and the TV app. Whatever it is, it worked.

I guess I'd just like to add (as some other people have) that this issue occurs even on the latest 64Gb Apple TV and with no other Bluetooth devices connected

. I do not own AirPods and I still receive disconnects all the time.

This issue is likely a universal software bug independent of the use of AirPods.

I have not had this problem when viewing Fitness+ on my iPad, only on the Apple TV.

As I mentioned above, I am updating my post. Today I did a 30 minute treadmill workout with the A1842 Apple TV, Air Pods Pro and Apple Watch 3. I completed the whole workout without it aborting. I did notice both today and yesterday that when doing the warmup and holding the handrails that the workout would pause. I guess this is because it thinks I stopped because my arms aren't moving. I understand that, but it seems that it reacts awfully quickly to think it should pause the workout. I also noticed yesterday and today that the heart rate on screen was not updating regularly.

Seems that there are quite a few bugs Apple needs to correct.

When I called Apple I pointed them to this thread and they acknowledged the 100+ people that are experiencing this issue. I suggest that you all call Apple and report the issue to expedite a fix. Not because of many voices complaining, but they gather diagnostic data that I expect will help them get to the answer quickly. For what it’s worth I did have to spend a lot of time with them, mostly on hold, before I got to the specialist that could do the diagnostics.

This exact same issue happened to me 3 times when I connected my AirPods Pro to my Apple TV before doing an Apple Fitness plus workout. Disconnected from device and then abruptly ended my workout with no way to resume.

When I tried to start a workout from my iPhone and then airplay to the Apple TV, my AirPods got disconnected. Shortly after when I tried to take a picture with my iPhone while on my stationary bike during a spin class, the Apple Fitness app disconnected and ended my workout. This would not happen in other apps.

No issue when not using AirPods with Apple TV - just annoying that I cannot use AirPods for my morning workouts when family is sleeping upstairs.

clearly some bugs to be ironed out.

Just one more person here saying that, yes, I am getting constant disconnections when using Fitness+ on Apple TV with my AirPods Pro. I have never gotten disconnected when not using the AirPods. But I am rather hearing impaired, and the AirPods are really the only reasonable way for me to be able to hear the Fitness+ trainers. Yes, the subtitles are there, but not every exercise makes it easy to be facing the TV. I can muddle through but it is not ideal. This is really an issue, and it's a little nuts that these all can't work well together. Very much hoping for a fix for this problem, or at the absolute minimum, please make it possible to resume a workout at the point where the disconnect happened. No one wants to do only the first eight minutes of the same workout over and over...

Just tried to link my iPad to my Apple Watch and do a 30 min exercise and cast to Apple TV. 5 mins in to the workout the device connection lost came up!!! Workout stopped and have to start again!!! Tried again to just do the work out using the iPad only linked to my watch. 30 minute workout completed with no issues. Problem must be the Apple TV which is only connected via Bluetooth to my watch and no air pods used. Come on apple this needs sorting. Banging exercise product and the hard working coach’s need to be on the big screen and not an iPad or iPhone.
