I have a pop3 mail account and use outlook/windows 10 on my pc. There is no option to add a pop account to sync my contacts with iphone?

wish to sync calendar & contacts between iPhone 6s and windows 10 pc using Outlook. Have a Pop3 mail account. Pop3 is not an option the iPhone gives when trying to connect my iPhone to my e-mail account. I previously used icloud to sync pc & iPhone, but kept getting duplicate contacts & appointments. Can this really be done, so do I run the risk on contaminating my data again if I try to get them to sync

You can still add the POP account to your phone, but it would be better to convert it to IMAP so it will sync across all devices. You can create it as an IMAP account on your phone and see what syncs. If it looks OK you can then convert any other devices to IMAP. However, if the only place your messages are saved is on your computer there is no way to sync them to your phone.
