Is the charging light supposed to stay on? I have tried usb-lightning in my 2020 Mac mini, 20w usb-c wall adapter, and 61w usb-c wall adapter and the amber light goes away after a few seconds. When the light turns off the AirPods Max battery status is also removed from the widget on my iPhone.
On my AirPods Max the charging light comes on for a few seconds, then goes out. According to the battery widget on my iPhone they are indeed charging. I have tried this with several Apple and non-Apple chargers and cords. All seem to work this way.

I'm not sure about the Max, but with the other AirPod versions, the charging light always goes out after a few seconds and they are still charging.
