SIM Not Supported?

December 7th I bought the IPhone 12 Pro on the Best Buy website with AT&T carrier. The phone got here the 8th, and I didn’t see that it came with a new AT&T SIM card so when I turned on the IPhone and it asked for me to put in a SIM card to activate, I put in my SIM card from my current phone which is an IPhone 8 from Boost Mobile, with a Sprint SIM card. I’ve learned that because of Apples activation policy, when an IPhone is bought through a retailer like Best Buy, the phone automatically locks with the first SIM card put into the phone, rather than the actual carrier. Now, the issue is the IPhone 12 Pro as said was bought with AT&T carrier but when I insert the AT&T SIM card it says SIM Not Supported. I went up to AT&T and they replaced my SIM card and I’m getting the same message. AT&T tells me to go to Best Buy and return phone, Best Buy says I can’t return the phone because when I put Boost Mobiles Sprint SIM card in my phone, I locked it to Boost and all I need to do is call them. I talk to Boost customer service, they say my phone can’t be locked because when they check my IMEI number it hasn’t been activated. go back and forth forever explaining my situation. escalate the issue to a Subject Matter Expert who was supposed to get back to me in 24-72 hours, never did, so I contacted Boost Mobile customer service after 70 hours asking about the IPhone 12 Pro and customer service said that the SME said upon looking up my device it’s locked under Sprint, not Boost, and to contact Sprint for further assistance. Sprint says two things, first that my phone can’t be locked because I don’t have an account with them. Then after some back and forth, Sprint customer service says “I have tried to unlock the device on my end however I am getting an error saying ‘unfortunately, this device is not eligible for Domestic SIM unlock.’ This means that the device cannot be unlocked on our system. Contact Boost Mobile to verify the status of your account as we do not have access to your account and can’t see why the phone cannot be unlocked.” Essentially, they admitted my phone is locked to Sprint? After contacting Boost again, they repeat after searching up the IMEI number, no account pops up meaning it hasn’t been activated and there’s nothing else they can do and to contact AT&T for help. AT&T can’t help because when I put in their SIM card I still get SIM Not Supported. Boost Mobile is adamant there’s nothing they can do. I have no idea what to do it seems like no one knows what I’m talking about. It’s been more than a week now and I still can’t use it as an actual phone, is it stuck like this?

Omg I am having the same exact issue!!!! I bought the phone through purchasing power through my employee program and went to boost. They checked and said. Was compatible and could be activated on the boost network. She gassed it to my plan and I paid for the SIM card, activation of the phone and all that. Then when setting it up I got the sim not supported error as stated above. The lady at boost said that my phone is active on boost network because it is showing the 5G at top right corner along with the cell signal lines. When I check the imeid online it also says. Is activated on boost network. I call boost am told that upon checking the imeid for my phone and the SIM card # they both match and show the ohone should have no issues being activated on network. Actually the phone is showing as being on the boost network but it won’t let me past the activation screen due to some issue with the SIM. I am also told the issue is being escalated and they will fix it. The lady in the store refused to give me any money back except for $30 for the SIM card. If it’s not fixed I’m out the activation fee as well as first month I paid for service. This was a gift for my son (his main gift and one of the only as I saved up to be able to buy this phone outright) I am now wishing I never bought this phone.
